    hi mixed
i think you are correct on this, i remember having to re-fill in my disclosure at my interview and putting the newcastle address as my home address so it went straight to them.

supposidly to speed things up  ha

Yes I did this and put a Newcastle address as my current address and then all of my actually history after this.

However this is where all of my problems began... As DWP forgot to send an attachment with my forms, they were sent back directly to the DWP for amendment and subsequently lost... If I had put my own address then I would have been informed of the problems ad been able to resolve them, rather than having to chase around to figure out there was a problem in the first place.

If you would rather put your home address and have the form sent directly back to you then this should also be OK... it just means that you have to notify DWP as soon as you have the form and can either fax or scan it and email a copy to them.

Either way is fine I think.. although is always nice to have backup of other forum peeps to confirm this :)

In retrospect I wish I'd had mine sent to me. The idiotic 'outstanding problem' that delayed it could have been easily solved by me, I wouldn't have lost it (not that mine was lost, but it seems to happen enough times to people) and I would have sent it back to DWP by recorded post so I knew exactly when it had got back to them.

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing:rolleyes:

GracePsalms: BTW I got a call for what I think was the AO central London today. Hope this means you've got one, or will do soon.

Almost 2 weeks ago I posted that I had received my call from a nice lady offering me EO (IRC57875) in Middleton starting 30th June - I couldn't manage this due to holiday commitments. However this has been a real bonus for me as she called again on Friday when I was away and offered me my local office instead starting 27th, although the first 8 weeks will be training in Middleton.

I'm very interested in finding out just what I'll be doing that requires 8 weeks training - that's quite a lot.

So good news - no more 6am 100 mile commutes. It's a lot less money that I'm used to but I'm looking forwards to doing something completely different and without the interminable stress of that bloody drive every day ;) I will be able to walk to work! My only small fly in the ointment is that I had booked and paid for a track day at quite some expense - this falls inside my first two weeks training and evidently time off in these two weeks is a no-no. I'll just have to take that one on the chin.

I'm looking forwards to this and hoping I enjoy it - anyone know what I'm likely to be doing?

Hello! currently in my 4th week in EO Role, lots of training courses either external or internal, Ive had 5 days of external courses plus 2 day induction in another office. Plus about 2-3 days of e-learning on their systems. Plus they like you to shadow all the different jobs within the office which is really useful. There is also more advisor training which is longer (think 7 days( which i havent done yet. Im training to be a loan parent advisor, so this week Ive just started shadowing them properly, and I think Im on a training day for this specific job role too. There is lots to take in! I hope that helped a bit.

p.s someone mentioned it was from birthdays that hols are worked out - not the case in our area as they have said it wouldnt work out fairly and its worked out on the day you start work for the year. So it must be different for different areas

    Thank you thank-you :D
I'm really hoping that once I explain my circumstances they will agree 9-5 and leave me alone!!! But i will look into every avenue possible if they do give me any grief trust me!!! i'm not sure they know what they are letting themselves in for with me- they better leave their 8-8 nonsense for some other mug muahahahaha ( i joke i joke) lol.

Don't fret about the 8-8 times too much, I started as an EO three days ago and yesterday agreed my hour with my line manager. She was obviously feeling slightly awkward as she asked me if i was happy doing 'irregular' hours, my response being 'yes, within reason' I was expecting the worse but it turns out they ask everyone(current employees incl) to do two days a week from 10-6 with the other three days at 9-5. No mention of Saturdays PHEW!
They have mentioned a 'flexible attitude to work/life balance' on several occasions in my three days and it seems that they do try and keep this promise. I'm not sure what the reaction would have been if I had said no but everyone I have met so far has been very pleasant and it's not in their interest to have unhappy employees from day one.
    All the best

Thank-you, that's reassuring. I'm just praying my area is like that because 10-6 I could manage also, no later though. I would hate to have to let the job go due to lack of child friendly hrs!
For now I remain positve and glad of a start date :D
One day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.
Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:

  • :jHi all I have been lurking here for a while, my wife applied in March for AO position, got interview and tests on 4th June. She has been waiting to hear, got her success letter 2 weeks after interview, then received her CRB back 25th June and today has got her start date 10th August! Got offered a position in a totally different area, but she declined it and stood her ground saying she wanted the area she had applied for, which she has got.I am chuffed to bits for her, so just want to say good luck to everyone who is waiting for the call, hang in there.

Are DWP recruiting, where are jobs advertised ?

I've never seen them advertising anywhere.
  • You write the address they have given you as your home address ;)

EDIT:Wait I think I've got that wrong lol. Someone else confirm please before i cause delays!!!!

Thanks. That's bizarre, but perfectly plausible from my experiences so far with DWP (!)
