    Hi all

I've been offered a post subject to pre employment checks.

I have to provide P60s and wage slips but I've read on here that the DWP contact the inland revenue to check your employment history. If they do that anyway, why do I need to find P60s and so on?

    Totally confused!

    Hi OneLungAmy

    Welcome to the Asylum!!!

My view is that they used to ask prospective employees to provide P60s and wage slips etc but so I have been told by the checking team at Newcastle very often people did not bother to supply them or people were unemployed and unable to, so DWP took to checking via HMRC. Although I must say what relevance does paying tax etc for the last three years have on future employment?????? See what I mean about an Asylum!!!!

    Good ere init?

I have been told today that you get called when your time has come and offered a place in any available jobcentre in your area? i was worried that my 3 chosen ones would get full quickly and i had offered to start work in any available jobcentre (as i was feeling very depressed about it all this morning!!) however i was told that i would get a call regardless of which centres i had chosen and get offered the one that was free? Again it is just conflicting info from Newcastle although it may vary from area to area?

I think that this is probably the way they do it. The ones at the top of the list get their prefered choice whereas for those further down the list the options are much narrower.
I honestly can't remember being asked to give my preferences . However it was a busy and stressful day so maybe I was.

    Congratulations
Re the 8 - 8 business why not have a word with the PCS Union - they have a website. Also what about the Government's so called Family Friendly policies and the Life Work balance. Just some ideas?

Almost 2 weeks ago I posted that I had received my call from a nice lady offering me EO (IRC57875) in Middleton starting 30th June - I couldn't manage this due to holiday commitments. However this has been a real bonus for me as she called again on Friday when I was away and offered me my local office instead starting 27th, although the first 8 weeks will be training in Middleton.

I'm very interested in finding out just what I'll be doing that requires 8 weeks training - that's quite a lot.

So good news - no more 6am 100 mile commutes. It's a lot less money that I'm used to but I'm looking forwards to doing something completely different and without the interminable stress of that bloody drive every day ;) I will be able to walk to work! My only small fly in the ointment is that I had booked and paid for a track day at quite some expense - this falls inside my first two weeks training and evidently time off in these two weeks is a no-no. I'll just have to take that one on the chin.

I'm looking forwards to this and hoping I enjoy it - anyone know what I'm likely to be doing?

    Hi Orb

I was on the same recruitment drive as you IRC57875. You are the first one to be offered a position. I know of 2 other posters jimdfish and RobY that are also on it but I don't think they've been offered either.
Do you know what position you were on the merit list and did you get a successful waiting list letter?
Hoping I get 'the call' soon also.

Congratulations. Tell us all about it.

When did you get the call and when do you start?

    Thank you thank-you :D
I'm really hoping that once I explain my circumstances they will agree 9-5 and leave me alone!!! But i will look into every avenue possible if they do give me any grief trust me!!! i'm not sure they know what they are letting themselves in for with me- they better leave their 8-8 nonsense for some other mug muahahahaha ( i joke i joke) lol.

    Hi Landslide.
I was on the 1045 test/interview 23Mar09 for EO. I seem to be in exactly same position as you. Today I received a copy of my DS from DWP "for my records." Getting very desperate as it seems others, like Orb are being placed now.
