Does anybody on here know what the required period of notice is for working within Job Centre Plus?
Thanks0 -
Hi
Has anyone got the main number for Newcastle's switchboard? I always ring 0191 216 8207 and get the same woman and get nowhere!! Tomorrow i really want to get in touch with the checking team to establish the progress of my checks (as the crb was given to them 2 weeks ago) and hopefully find out who my vacancy holder is and ring them to get a start date. I know if i phone the same number as usual i will just get fobbed off and i don't want to be rude as she is so nice!0 -
hi chi chi
i did ask DS for who they sent it to at Newcastle via e-mail and they replied back saying that they can not give that info out?????? oh well. maybe i need to call, but those 0870 numbers cost me a bomb. so i will just call Newcastle and try to wing it some how into finding out who has my case.0 -
I wasn't aware that they advertised national positions, is it a specialist position or general JCP post?. So you could literally be offered a job anywhere? I have been successful in both London and Birmingham at HEO level and have been given start date of 10th August. Hope they won't keep you waiting too long.
yes it is in HR, there was someone else at the start of the thread who was waiting for the same results but they appear to have left as i was hoping to hear what was happening with them0 -

That sounds interesting but also like a recipe for complications when HR try and work out holiday entitlements!0

Do you have the name of the person dealing with your checks up at Newcastle?.. or name of who told you they were cleared?.. you may be able to pass that on to your recruitment officer directly and see if she can follow it up.. if not then I would get back on the case to newcastle and make sure that confirmation is sent.
Can I just ask how you got the details of your local recruitment officer, was it through newcastle? This is the part I seem to be getting stuck on at the moment as no-one will give me contact details for mine *sniff*
Think I will follow lili2008's advice and go calm and assertive on Newcastle tomorrow until I get the answer... had enough of them today so need a break!

I have sent you a PM. Will get back to you tonight with details!!0 -
Phoned Newcastle today and spoke to someone new although i was told that i could not be put through to checking as they were so busy, fair enough. This new person actually took my name and IRC number and then looked at my checks. She said they had not been cleared yet but that there were no notes saying they were waiting for any other info either. She also said the checks are now taking 6-10 weeks!! great. Back to waiting. Could be another few months as she then said that when the checks are cleared they go to the vacancy holder who waits until there is a training package ready before working down the merit list of people who had passed their checks.....can see this being a long time!0

Leave is worked out by your line manager. Every 4 weeks they look at your flex and what leave you have had in that period. Your line mgr will agree any leave you want not HR. Only so many people allowed off on one team at one time and HR would find it hark to monitor this.
Hi
I think there are two separate issues here, one is Annual Leave en titlement and the other is flexi time leave. Obviously Annual Leave is the number of days a person is entitled to over a 12 month period. Whereas if you are working on a flexi time basis then this is over a four week period during which you can accrue hours/possibly days which you can take off in addition to your Annual Leave.
I hope this makes sense.0
