DWP employment waiting list

Hi all,
I have just spoken to my local recruitment officer, bless her, she didn't seem to know what to say to me such was my persistence! I did however find out that she is waiting for confirmation of my CRB & HMRC checks, they were completed (or so I was told by Newcastle) over a month ago but they don't seem to have passed them onto the local recruiting office! Newcastle really do seem to take the biscuit when it comes to incompetence! On the plus side though she has said that as soon as she recieves the confirmation I will definitely be offered a post, the only question is when?0 -

Right, so now you have to get onto Newcastle again and insist they get your file across. Give them the name of the local manager you just spoke to and tell them she's expecting it. Ring back again tomorrow morning to check they have sent it.:idea:0 -

Do you have the name of the person dealing with your checks up at Newcastle?.. or name of who told you they were cleared?.. you may be able to pass that on to your recruitment officer directly and see if she can follow it up.. if not then I would get back on the case to newcastle and make sure that confirmation is sent.
Can I just ask how you got the details of your local recruitment officer, was it through newcastle? This is the part I seem to be getting stuck on at the moment as no-one will give me contact details for mine *sniff*
Think I will follow lili2008's advice and go calm and assertive on Newcastle tomorrow until I get the answer... had enough of them today so need a break!0 -

Exactly what I am now doing! If only Newcastle would answer their damn phones!!!0 -

Well Julietormesby and I, being on the same IRC, are kind of working together and sharing information, Juliet obtained the phone number for the vacancy holder (Sharon in Cambridge) and when I phoned the vacancy holder I managed to procure the number for the local recruitment office, which in our case was in Norwich. It does seem like a huge challenge to just get the smallest pieces of information from the DWP, I dread to think what it is like working for them, although I do hear the benfits far outweigh the problems! Might I suggest trying to find out which is the lead JCP for your area and ringing them and asking for someone who deals with internal or area recruitment? It may be a long shot but it's worth a try
Edit: Newcastle still not picking up0 -
Why not try again now? Ring that checker, or ring the switchboard and ask to be put through, and take it from there. Come on, you deserve answers. 4 months is stupid. I don't want to worry you but if I hadn't pushed through yesterday, I'd never have found out that the vacancy holder had me down as withdrawing interest in the post. That could have had disasterous consequences and the more I think about that, the angrier I am. What utter, utter gross incompetence they are capable of!!
And by the way, I only found out about my supposed 'withdrawal of interest' when I got to the stage of speaking to the local job manager. No hint of it from Newcastle's end. I was still 'in the system' according to them.
Of course it's entirely up to you but I say grasp the nettle (or is it mettle?)
Hi lili
nettle is correct -If you 'grasp the nettle', you deal bravely with a problem
That is what everyone needs to do.0 -

One of the things I did yesterday was, I got given a number of the vacancy co-ordinator which wasn't being answered, so I looked at the phone code, put it in google to find out the general area then rang the switchboard of the nearest JCP. Someone there emailed her with my message and number and gave me a different number for her. I waited a couple of hours to give her time to contact me then rang her. She was apologetic for forgetting to bell me and immediately put everything into action. It was a few hours later that I got 'the call' from the jobs manager, although I had also taken her number as a precaution.
I think I got throught to some very competent and helpful people yesterday but it really is the luck of the draw, by the sound of it.
Another tip I think is useful when dealing with Newcastle is to ring as early as possible, before they've had a chance to become frazzled:idea:0 -

I have mangaed to get a little further information off DWP after a few calls this morning. They brought up the my details and have told me that my checks have been completed and cleared 30th June and my details have now passed to the wales recruitment team who then pass it on to the local recruitment officer.
history of saga now as follows -
26/4 sat numeracy and literacy tests
10/5 interview
15/5 recieved test pass letter
15/5 recieved interview succesful letter (no waiting list)
9/6 Disclosure Scotland sent CRB to DWP Newcastle
30/6 checks completed/cleared and papers passed to wales team who then pass to local recruitment officer
