    Morning...urgh...my head...

I think I must have been very lucky yesterday. There was a hell of a lot of persistence but no more than others are doing. I just got lucky.

Thank you so much again Juliet,

I have rung this number and spoken to a gentlemen there.. they don't cover Essex so I think I have confused him somewhat! However he is going to email the vacancy holder in my area and give her my details hopefully to call me back and give me some information on where my application is at.

'Please please please let there be light at the end of this tunnel!!'

Well, the gentleman has phoned me back. He has confirmed that the vacancy holder definitely has my details but again wouldn't give me a name or number to call. He assumes that I will hear from them very soon as they should be eager to get people employed. I believe he is quite high up in the company so not really connected with the recruitment side but he may have pushed things along... we'll see...

Bit worried I may already be infamous as a troublemaker by pushing so hard... I guess I'm still playing the waiting game...just don't understand why they give contact details out for some areas and not others

Me neither. It doesn't seem fair.

I found out by asking the checking team who the file had actually been sent to. They gave me the info without hesitation.

I worried about being seen as a troublemaker too but then I read some of Apolonation's posts on Saturday and thought, yeah, I too am at the end of my tether and I just can't hang around waiting for them. I reached a snapping point where being seen as a nuisance was less important that getting answers.

    Hi Chi Chi

Well it's good news that at least your papers have moved from Newastle down to the vacancy holder.

I really don't want to be seen as pedantic here but I have noticed references on this site to "company". DWP is not a company it is the Civil Service and is grade orientated. I would think it extremely doubtful if the gentleman you spoke to was "quite high up" because generally they do not answer their own telephones let alone other people's telephones. Moreover he is not in your area anyway so I wouldn't worry. As for some of them giving out contact details and other's not, I presume that for some it's a good way of getting callers off their back.

thanks lili, yeah I think i got to that point too, everytime I would say "it's been 4 months already" people would begin to take a bit of notice and understand my frustrations.. Today I should have pushed to talk to a checker instead of taking information from the lady answering the phone.. I think that's where I went wrong.. if I don't hear in a week or so I may try again.

Why not try again now? Ring that checker, or ring the switchboard and ask to be put through, and take it from there. Come on, you deserve answers. 4 months is stupid. I don't want to worry you but if I hadn't pushed through yesterday, I'd never have found out that the vacancy holder had me down as withdrawing interest in the post. That could have had disasterous consequences and the more I think about that, the angrier I am. What utter, utter gross incompetence they are capable of!!

And by the way, I only found out about my supposed 'withdrawal of interest' when I got to the stage of speaking to the local job manager. No hint of it from Newcastle's end. I was still 'in the system' according to them.

Of course it's entirely up to you but I say grasp the nettle (or is it mettle?)

Sorry Juliet, you're right it isn't a company, just me using the wrong language.. oops! The man kept mentioning being a business partner which is why I assumed him to be him high up (and probably why I called DWP a company too).

Thank you again for your help.. I feel more confident that I am still on their records and in the system now so that is good news :T

lol, Thanks lili, the man on the phone was going to email a woman named Sue for me.. I believe she is a vacancy coordinator.. when he couldn't get a reply from her at the time, he called me back just to confirm that my records had been sent.. so I may still get a call from her when she is back from meetings etc. will leave it a day or so, in case she does call me.
