Awr...thanks:D. The letter was dated 6 May but there have been stupid delays that really weren't necessary. For each, it's been resolved by me ringing round like a mad woman chasing them, and I've only known how to go about this because of advice from others on here.

Yes, pals coming round shortly, wine will be opened. It may get a bit loud at Chez Lili tonight :D

    :j:j

    Congrats Lili :T
I got an email today-after chasing of course- saying that my file was cleared today and passed on to the recruitment team who should contact me with a start date in a week or so. Hopefully i'll be poppin a few corks soon too!!
How long between bein told your checks were clear and you getting a start date? it seems like all of that happened today unless i misread your post earlier (although i realise you waited forever and a day for these damn checks!!)

Well done though, hope its all been worth it and you enjoy the job!
One day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.
Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:

    Bit drunk, tis late.

Make sure you find out the names of the people locally in charge of your vacancy. They are easy to get, just press them out of Newcastle. Get as much info as you can out of Newcaste. And if you don't get answers, just keep pestering. Once you get to local level there is the vacancy co-ordinator and next, the job manager. I spoke to the very helpful checking team (Newcast;e) who told me my papers had been sent to the local vacancy co-ordinator, whose number they gave me freely and who was lovely, competent and helpful. She rang the vacancy manager who was also lovely, and very flexble, and who gave me my date.

llAll, don't sit waiting. Go [postal.

    Got me start date

Well done lili :j and PHEW!!!!
I've been on 'tenterhooks' since your first post yesterday when you were determined to get answers.
I kept checking till about 5pm - had to go out for a while - and then there were the technical issues last night so I've just found out!!

Well done again but don't be a stranger now we still need your input.

Thanks LV.. 4 phone calls so far and no answer... I'm thinking maybe a team meeting until 10am so will ring again after that.. If they are just ignoring calls they must be pretty headstrong as I can't ignore a ringing phone for that long lol!

PS: think it may be a long day of phone calls and solitare on the computer!

    Hi ChiChi

Perhaps your vacancy holder is like ours i.e. does not start until 11.30 and has been away from the office since last Thursday!!!

Good luck, we are going to try aftedr 11.30.

    Thanks Julietormsby,

I am still trying to get hold of the number for the vacancy holder.

I have just got through to a lady back at Newcastle.. same one I spoke to yesterday... she was perfectly honest and told me there were so many messages yesterday that she had probably lost it or just not done anything about it! I asked for the vacancy holder phone number and she told me that they don't like people ringing them unless they have already started work for the company ?? So I have asked to speak to the checker who was already dealing with my case... not sure if he is in but she will see IF someone is able to ring me back...

Not the best of starts but haven't given up hope yet as I may have a back up number if this doesn't work!

    Hi Chi Chi

Just had a brief look at your previous postings where you say your checks etc are all complete etc., and you took your tests in Essex. Well this is a long shot but I am in Norfolk and have been told that our vacancy coordinator is in Cambridgeshire her name is Sharon Trevillion 01223 884763. Perhaps she covers Essex too? Anyway Sharon has passed us down to Norfolk level so that is where we are at.
