Another thing. When Newcastle gets the CRB back from DS, I'm under the impression they'll send you a copy for records? If this is true, I'm quite worried that I haven't had one.
Might this mean that they've lost my &*&%ing CRB? If they have....:mad:....I will wreak apocalyptic vengeance upon their scabrous heads.:idea:0 -
PM'd. Yes i got my crb and so did someone else I know who was going through the same process. the HO mail it back to you once they've received it and have finished processing it, typically this is at the end of your checking - I think, as I was told it's usually a matter of days after you receive your CRB back from the HO - that your checks are completed.
When you speak to the manager ask him to confirm if they have received your CRB or not. If they haven't DS can resend it and they'll have it within a couple of days. When you speak to that person they should be able to tell you specifically which part of your checking they are waiting on, then you can continue to chase that. But to be honest once you speak to the line manager I think he'll be able to give you some definate answers and take control of things if they aren't being taken care of at the moment.whinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.0 -

Very helpful stuff. Thank you.
I really do feel exhausted, dis-spirited, disenchanted and thoroughly p'st off with the whole matter. Why should I have to keep chasing and pestering like this? Why can't they just behave professionally? I have a knot of anxiety in my stomach every time I have to ring like this in case I hear 'oh the job's been withdrawn' or something. Even though I still want this job because it matches my strengths, amongst other reasons, it has certainly made me wary of the sort of organisation I'm going into. By their sheer ineptitude, they have stripped away my initial enthusiasm and left a very bad taste in my mouth. One minute 'yeah you've got the job', then...nothing, nothing, nothing. On and on it goes, week after week, month after month.:idea:0 -
And each time I've phoned, I've been told 'don't worry, you will be posted soon..blah blah..'
I won't even go into the 4 London AO posts I didn't get a sift-test acknowledgement for (my bad for not pursuing. I really should have phoned to pester. Unless they were drastically different from the others, I'm quite sure I passed em) or the EO drafter post (central London) that I passed the sift test for, rang to tell them I'd done the lit/num tests and was promised an interview, never to receive it (again my bad for expecting them to forward me for interview and not ring to pester). I tried many times, in fact, to ring to chase the above but the phone wasn't answered. Perhaps I should have got the train up to Newcastle and demanded a face-to-face?
These people are NOT professional :mad::mad::mad::idea:0 -
I am agreeing with all of your frustrations lilli and chi chi. My test dates were 18th March, the interview 23rd (I think).I got a letter to say I was successful and then another one to say they were doing checks back in May. I faxed my crb to Newcastle two weeks ago and have not had a copy back from them so I am starting to wonder whether they received it? even though I phoned and checked this with them! When I phoned last week they just said that once the crb has been done you should hear within the week.....still waiting!!! two weeks later! The whole process so far since the end date for the post has been just over four months!!
It is really frustrating as I have now finished working full time as I handed my notice in once i had heard they were starting checks due to me having a four week notice period... silly me. I am lucky as i saved some wages to see me through a few months incase the start date was put back and i have other possible options starting in September but this is my 1st choice job and if the dwp are not careful they will end up losing good people due to the wait!!
I am also calling on Monday to ask whether all of my checks are complete and what stage i am at. I have actually phoned about this but always get fobbed off, they don’t even ask for my name!! personally that is unbelievable... how do they know that there isn’t a problem with one of my checks or that my crb has not been lost? I can’t wait anymore and i too will have to be a bit more firm on Monday.
Good luck everyone who is going to kick some butt :rotfl:0 -

But if you haven't heard anything concrete, then I dont understand what the issue is - safe to assume, you haven't been succesful? It would be different if they actually told you, the job was yours and then kept you waiting etc... But I think you should have been looking for other options a week or so after the interview if they hadn't confirmed you had actually passed the interview.
Anyway - best of luck, I'm sure you will find something soon! Just put the same energy and enthusiasm into the next job search that you have chasing this one, and I'm sure you'll be fine.
Good luck!0 -

i hear you lili 2008, i have been out of work now since aug 2008, and this is the first chink of light that i have gotten after applying for well over 200 to 250 jobs. i have been applying since the new year, i don't mind the waiting its the not knowing, and being informed of what is exactly happening, being kept in the dark. i had my success letter just last week 27 jun, west london district for EO position and after discovering this forum at least it gives you an insight into what is sort of happening and you are not alone. i am still applying just in case, you never know, so sit and wait0

*laughs hollowly*. If you only got your success letter last week, sit down, make yourself comfortable, welcome to the thread. Advice always available, rants understood.
I really hope you're not here long.:idea:0 -

Very frustrating for you. Look at Apolonation's posts for how to do it. Let us know how you go on.:idea:0
