I think it is just letting you know what your mark was for the test.

As for the interview and whether or not you were successful I think that letter is still to come.
  • Hi Murphy Suicide

I, and no doubt a few more, know exactly how you feel. At first it is exasperation, then annoyance and then anger. In my experience you never get a straight answer out of anyone at DWP and they all seem to imply it is some one else who is holding things up

DWP's website says "aim to complete the recruitment exercise in 9 weeks". Well the closing date of IRC 58380 was 23 March 18 weeks ago. Frankly it is not good enough to keep people hanging around for this length of time without any word whatsoever. One would have thought that a simple letter of apology/update would not be too much to ask but apparently not. Of course it does raise the question that if they can treat people like this who are not yet working for them, then how on earth will they be treated when they do! One only has to look at Twitterer's posts!!

Thank you, did you get this letter when you applied or not?
Because if Ive not been successful, then it is a little bit of a harsh way of telling me :(

A difficult one to answer because I had previously sat the literacy and numeracy tests and had passed which meant I did not have to sit them again just turn up to theplace where they were being held and show them and I was immediately given an interview date.

In my case the successful letter says "Thank you for attending the interview for the above exercise. I am pleased to inform you that you have been successful".

Totally agree, it's a bit scary to think some of us, if not all, are going to walk in on our fist day for traing for a job which we have been given no information about (apart from description when applying). Where else would you do this?

Today I have phoned a number I was given for the vacancy holder in my area, predictably she then gave me a different number for the person supposedly in charge of the postings, when I phoned the new number the lady on the other end, who was otherwise lovely as they all seem to be, told me that, for my area at least, there are 2 lists, one for the local recruitment exercise and another, later one for the national recruitment exercise, I am on this second list which obviously is again in merit order and I may be offered a job if no-one before me on either list fits the right criteria and even then it is more likely to be at my 3rd choice Job Centre. She also tried fobbing me off with the "we are waiting for checks to come back" line that I have heard countless times. I am getting sick of this :(

The letter you received was just written confirmation of your test scores, nothing more. You will receive a separate letter to inform you of your interview result in due course. Good Luck

    Hi Kath

I previously worked in the Civil Service in London for a good many years, actually the DTI. Walking into or being posted to a job which you have no information about is how in my experience they operate. In my case:-

Started as a Personal Secretary, then posted to Northampton Official Receiver's olffice as an CO/AO dealing with bankruptcy etc. Then posted back to London CO/AO to help set up the London Regional Passenger's Committee looking into complaints about trains, tubes buses etc. Then posted CO/AO to SERO to help companies export. Got promoted to EO now advising companies on how to export. Then got posted to the African Desk advising exporters about how to export to Francophone Africa then onto the German Desk advising on exporting to Germany. Then got promoted to HEO managing divisonal budgets.

See what I mean. Having said that it was very interesting.

Thanks for answering my questions. Were you unsuccessful the other time then, the time you sat the tests?, if then did you recieve a letter titled "Literacy and Numeracy Test Certification"? and then an additional letter afterwards?

Sorry for the many questions!! Im just so confussed!

    Hi,

This is going to sound really strange but previously I had applied for an AO position, passed the literacy and numeracy tests but failed the AO interview. However I had got sufficiently high marks to qualify for EO level. So when I applied for the EO I did not have to sit the tests because I had already qualified.
