  • Oh I give up!

    Successful letter 11/05/09

Personal refs emailed and returned 13/05/09

CRB form filled out and returned 16/06/09 (even though filled out one months ago at original interview!!!!!)

Disclosure Scotland phoned today (again!!) 29/06/09 but they have not been sent my completed form from DWP!

Phoned Employee Services Resourcing in Newcastle 29/06/09, gave me checking teams number.

Phoned checking team 29/06/09 to be told there systems were down again, but that she would call me back in 15 mins. She didn't.

Phoned back after 20 mins, no answer.

Phoned back Employee Services Resourcing to be told the checking team goes home at 5 o'clock.

Totally fed up, am probably going to give up. The DWP is shambolic.

Have worked in recruitment for 15 years, this is NOT how you run a successful recruitment campaign. They will lose a lot of good candidates because they do not manage candidates expectations in a professional manner.

    :naughty:

    Well done!!!!
I got an email saying they hadnt received my CRB certificate yet. Called Disclosure Scotland, and was told they posted it out on 11th June. They say all the other checks are done, they are just waiting for the CRB. Fingers crossed, they might get back to me in 3 weeks or so with a start date.
    :) im happy for you

    Thanks
Is yours a HEO post? Which georgraphical area?

I got my CRB form back about 18th June and have forwarded it on to Newcastle. Heard nothing since but not too concerned - yet.

It is frustrating, it seems it's the CRB checks because they come from Scotland that seem to cause the most confusion in all this.

Keep positive, it will work out for you I'm sure. As I posted earlier, they've phoned toay to me for a job I applied for etc etc back in mid March!

    Hi all,
Well I started in my AO role today and it isn't going as I thought.
When I applied I was told to put down on the form what hours I could work between the hours of 8 until 8. I put down 9 - 5. I have 2 young children.
When I got into work today I was told I HAVE to work until 8pm 3 times a week, no negotiation. I can't do this and have NEVER been told that this was what I would be doing. It even states on the offer letter that I discuss my working hours on my first day! I have explained that I have a 2 young children and nursery closes at 6pm and they have to be picked up before then but they have said thats the job I was taken on for and I WAS told. I am devastated, I cannot do these hours and there is no room for negotiation. I took part in a pre employment training course for this particular job and was still NEVER told I would HAVE to work until 8pm. I have made enquiries with other people that applied but were unsuccessful and they also said they were never told of HAVING to work contracted until 8pm as they never would have applied in the first place. I would never have applied for a job with those hours as I just know it is physically impossible for me to do :(
    I'm back to square one.
Sorry to hear the problem you have had which area did you apply for? Could you have gone to one of your other choices and done the hours you wanted too?

That's terrible!! After all the waiting and hoping this must have come as a real blow. what did you do in the end? have you had to decline the offer? It sounds very strange to me, i've never heard of being forced to stay until 8pm when you have childcare responsibilities! There must be a way to fight this!! I really hope so, and good luck!!
One day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.
Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:

I have done a lot of crying. I know its stupid but this job meant so much to me as I know it does to all of you too. He said to me at the end of the day.. ' don't leave, leave it a while and you may be able to sort something regarding your childcare' BUT I know I can't and my poor kids would barely ever see me. I am a single parent too so they do rely on me.
To everyone, please check your contracted hours before you start so you KNOW what you will definitely be doing.

I understand totally!! I would cry and probably punch the man (lol), I too am a single mother and could not do those hours even if i wanted to NEVER see my kid!! This recruitment process is so long and drawn out without this disappointment at the end of it! I really am so sorry to hear that, and i really hope one of those smug 9-5'ers quit or something lol!!!
    xx
