That is still bad if you applied for a Permanen role and they are offering 18 months contract. Anyway not to worry maybe you will be offered a permanent role at the end.
  • does anyone know if you're supposed to work saturdays if you work in a benefit delivery centre? i applied for a holidays contract at a local one back in Feb and was apparently successful depending on these annoying pre recruitment checks. i didnt ask them about saturdays at the interview as i assumed it was mon-fri and they asked if i would work in a local job centre if offered and i said of course.

however, at the same time as the interview, i thankfully applied for a saturday job as a cashier 4 hours a week which i am starting training for tomorrow and im worried if i do ever get this dwp job they'll ask me to work saturdays?? also, would they honour holidays if you're specifically hired to work holidays about 16 weeks a year for those that work term time? i really want to go to a dance summer school as i study dance at uni but am again afraid i will be working for dwp if they ever hire me.

    ahh, questions, questions, sorry...
I am a poor student wife now but don't think I can edit username? i study dance and love it though of course, it'll be a career that doesn't earn a lot of money!!

lost 5lbs so far - up to 11lb more to lose i think, will stop if it looks skeletal though dont think that could ever happen!

I have started in a BDC and we thought we could work from 8am to 8pm weekdays and between 8am to 4pm Saturdays. However having started our hours are between 8am and 6pm and no Saturdays. The other staff say you only ever work Saturday on volunteer overtime. We were told that they specify those hours in the job description incase in the future they ever needed staff to work them and working hours changed.
Sorry do not know the answer to your other question.

I got a phone call today about my HEO post. No start date yet - she said they hoped for mid July - but she told me which office I would probably be working in. Feeling positive now. :T
    Well done!!!!
I got an email saying they hadnt received my CRB certificate yet. Called Disclosure Scotland, and was told they posted it out on 11th June. They say all the other checks are done, they are just waiting for the CRB. Fingers crossed, they might get back to me in 3 weeks or so with a start date.
    :) im happy for you
  • Hi At150

The phone number I have for George Platt is 0191 2183381 BUT this was the number before the office move. I have been dealing with Jamie Fender who I think works with George his number is 0191 216 8157. Sorry I do not have an e-mail address.

I dont know how true it is but I have heard that they have been holding back until July to post more staff because there is a payrise in July and if you start before that all new staff would move up from the starting pay to the next payband. If you dont start until July or after they can pay the starting salary of £20,240
  • For all of us still waiting who have received successful letters I just wondered who has been waiting the longest ?

    Wow! Totally random.
Have literally just taken a phone call from a lady call Jackie who has asked if I have my CRB back from Scotland for application IRC58374 EO Position in Manchester I applied for back on March 16th, interviewed for and was successful, then told about 5 weeks ago that all positions had been filled!
Jackie has asked if I can fax or email the form over to her.... No more info.... I was too stunned ton ask if they were offering me a position.
One worry is I start work as an AO in Bolton on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will this stop me being able to take the EO position in future if offered?

Are you sure they didn't just mean training was full time because you cant negtiate that part but I thought you could for your job role. I put down 25 hours per week when I filled in my form at the interview, like you I work at the DWP and I got an e-mail to say all my checks are clear and I am waiting for the business to get in touch with my start date.

No, I was told that if I wanted the job I had to work full time, they weren't open to negotiation at all for that post.
