Hello everyone, is anybody else on the forum having issues with IRC58265 (South London)?

I have loads of trouble with this exercise, still waiting for my letter. Spoke to the recruitment officer, they are still waiting on some results. Apparently they said they will be employing everyone on this exercise.

    Hope this helps

    Hi

I can only speak from experience of what happened to me.

Basically they refused to reduce my hours 6 months down the line, thats why I left. I was going through a divorce, stressed and emotional and needed time to consider my living arrangements and they were not sympathetic at all.

Bearing in mind at that time I worked in a Jobcentre call centre not open to the public and most of the calls I received were from people requiring appointments for N.I numbers and most of them could not speak English and the Job was driving me insane!
They also had a high turnover of staff and a lot of staff were part time.

On my first day I was so happy to of been offered the Job, I think I had 3 days notice from the phonecall to the start date, I readily agreed to full time hours and signed the contract.

Another lady who started the same day as myself could only work 16 hours a week and at first they said we only have full time hours but she stood her ground and was granted part time hours. Thats the reason why I suggested standing your ground on the first day you start work.

Within an hour of starting a lady came into the training room and could not wait to get my signature on my working hours contract. Once you sign the contract your stuck with it!

I can't see them saying they will not employ you when you have already been offered the Job. Also the fact it is for a Uni placement I think you will be OK.

My advice is to talk to them on your first day and negotiate the hours you can work. They accommodated everyone who wanted part time hours even if they did not like it. You must sort this out on your first day!

Some staff worked term time only and others worked 6 months a year but you must stand your ground!

Congratulations on your start date, I also start on Monday 22nd June in a customer facing role at my local JC. Got the call yesterday.

    Good luck!

Hi Snowy, I have just had a phone call offering me a full-time role EO role in JCP. I explained that I only wanted to work 9 -3 as I needed to pick the children up from school. The Gentlemen I spoke to said that it was a full-time position and he would have to speak to the business and get to me and this wouldn't be until next week, he said looking at it he would probably have to look at other people on the list. The advert for the job said part-time hours would be considered. As I didn't want to let this job go I asked if I could accept the role first and then he could speak with the business regarding my hours. He agreed and I start the training on 6th July. My question to you is what am I best doing to ensure I get the hours I need ? Thanks for your help.
  • Hi I am waiting to hear about IRC 5866 Barnsley/wombwell. Applied in March interview May success letter 2 weeks ago( no waiting list mentioned) and today I have received my disclosure back with a cover letter for "my reference" the address on the disclosure isnt mine it was a lady in HR Newcastle. So am I correct in thinking I do not need to send them a copy? Cannot wait to get started my hubby finishes teaching ( im posting under his name ) next week and because hes agency worker we have no wage over summer.
Great advice on this forum by the way!

They have not said anything about start dates, but thank the lord they called me today to get more information for my referees. It looks like a good sign. But then i have rang them constantly, they may be pi**ed off with me ringing all the time.
  • I'm on the waiting list for EO in Sunderland area. Not heard a thing for ages. Gets you down. Is your role an AO?

I applied for 2 eo positions and am starting on monday for the 2nd one i applied for, 1 week ago i received a letter stating that the recruitment team for newcastle, sunderland, durham ,peterlee, crook, bishop auckland, and on,and on which i assume you were part of when you said sunderland wanted me to tick a list of places i would travel to from my location near boro, they sent me this letter due to the fact i was on the tees valley waiting list(1st eo position i applied for) and wanted me to consider other areas, i informed them i was already starting but this seems strange why they are trying to add more people to these waiting lists

Just phoned up and was told by the manager of my exercise that they'd had nothing back from the checking team so far and it was just a waiting game. this is with a success (no waiting list) letter on 24th april and knowing that the checking team have contacted my employer and received and processed my ds form. :(

I am starting on Monday 29th, does this mean I would get paid on 6th July? I assumed it would just be the end of July with that being almost a month

Hi there just wondered where you are starting?
