Yes the intake was about half the expected total so that rings true and makes sense thanks mvenge.0

Bear in mind, though, that internal staff often have to go for the external route in as well as 'outsiders'. As far as I know, offices like to have a mixture, so that you don't end-up with one office full of brand new advisers and another full of experienced ones, presumably because this would create an uneven playing field, performance-wise.0

Does anyone know what the craic with pay will be if you start mid-month?
I started 15th June and received a memo that stated those starting before that date will be paid at the end of the month, but those starting after will be paid on 6th July. I guess the same will happen for others in later months.
As things stand, they still don't have my pay details as I'm still not set up on their systems...“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

Well done - There's an Induction Course in Southampton on 29th/30th June - Maybe you'll be on it...? If so I'll see you there!“I contend that we are both atheists. Today I heard the DWP are taking on 16,000 people for the JCPs by the autumn. They have only done 6,000 so far, so most people should be started reasonably soon.
On the down side there aren't the desks for a lot of us new recruits at the moment!“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

I started mid month and will be paid next Tuesday into my bank. Some of my colleagues are getting a cheque. Even have an online pay slip and can see exactly what I am getting. Emergency taxed but still not a bad wage.0 -
Yes, tell me about it.At my office we are approx 20 desks short, and we are still recruiting!!Its absolutely ridiculous, we have spent hundreds of thousands recruiting but just small change on re-designing the estates to accommodate all the extra staff.0

I am starting on Monday 29th, does this mean I would get paid on 6th July? I assumed it would just be the end of July with that being almost a month0 -

I'd have thought you'd be looking at end of July too.“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

Yeah Valerie..thats who i speak to..she is nice but not a lot of help to me, because i still havent sorted something so simple. I called Disclosure Scotland about 3 weeks ago, who told me that my CRB has been sent back to DWP with an address issue (which worries me because I have had about 5 CRBs due to the work i do and have all come back fine). Since then I have been calling DWP to try and resolve the issue, but cant get through to anyone who is doing the checks.
Then i get a call from DWP today (which i missed and the man never left a number) asking me to fax my CRB letter to them. Which obviously I cant because Scotland told me they sent it back to DWP and it needs completing again. Is there any other phone numbers i can call, because I spoke to Valerie again today and she was no help at all.
Hi Knocks, I have had a similar issue with DWP.. basically I sent my CRB to them with separate sheet of addresses attached... they never sent the attached sheet onto to Disclosure Scotland! So my forms all got returned to DWP and then entirely lost!!
I had to ring disclosure scotland to find out there was a problem and then tell DWP about it!.. It took three days of calling and leaving urgent messages (that were never returned) before finally ringing again and pushing to speak to a checker right away. I told the lady that answered that my application could not proceed until i spoke to someone and I heard her have a bit of a conversation with the others in the office before finally deciding to put me through!
Lovely checker man sent me out new forms which I filled in and sent back straight away... I followed this up with a phone call a week later to find that my forms had, yet again, been LOST!!! Even the checker said to me "It seems like someone up there really doesn't want you to have this job!" lol.
Anyways so I am back to the start.. but I would still be blindly waiting on the first CRB check if I had left it all up to the DWP to contact me about problems.
I really hope things go better for you and you get through to a checker soon. From my experience the checkers are really efficient when you can actually speak to them directly!0
