Well now I am getting down about all this....

After hearing from everyone else on here about being offered Merseyside positions, I called the Merseyside office to be told that my CRB hasn't been received although I sent it myself 2 weeks ago.

I rang Newcastle to check if they have it and they said everything was done on my file and up to date.

My main concern is im going on holiday middle of August and I don't think they would start me knowing I have a holiday straight away. But at the same time, I really need to get started as soon as possible...

    Argh!
If you get a call and have a holiday booked tell them and they will give you a date when you get back, they have to honor holidays already booked. I have the first week in Aug away and will tell them this if I get a call before this. A friend of mine called Newcastle to tell them she was going away and they added it to her records next to her merit score

From what I have gathered from this thread, they do you on order of merit, so whatever position you are on the list vis a vis interview score, that's when you'll be processed through.

That's quite apart from the delays caused by office space, places on training programmes etc. So if you hear of others starting, don't worry.
Yes this is right I have asked everyone has to go in order

ha ha I don’t know? I speak to Valerie and she is always really helpful and nice? must be my posh brummie phone voice!! Admittedly she did say it would be months and months before they started doing the checks and i got a letter two weeks later but I wasn’t bothered about it being quicker obviously.

Call disclosure Scotland and give your name and they can tell you if your crb check is there and if it has been completed etc and where it is getting sent back to.

I know someone who works in one of the jobcentres and she said new people have been starting all the time recently so I am thinking they were the first batch and now we will start to get places. I have read on the forum that some HEO's for Birmingham have been given start dates in the middle of July so I am hoping we will start at the same time as they will be our managers etc and so maybe we will all get trained together... .maybe that’s just wishful thinking

Yeah Valerie..thats who i speak to..she is nice but not a lot of help to me, because i still havent sorted something so simple. I called Disclosure Scotland about 3 weeks ago, who told me that my CRB has been sent back to DWP with an address issue (which worries me because I have had about 5 CRBs due to the work i do and have all come back fine). Since then I have been calling DWP to try and resolve the issue, but cant get through to anyone who is doing the checks.

Then i get a call from DWP today (which i missed and the man never left a number) asking me to fax my CRB letter to them. Which obviously I cant because Scotland told me they sent it back to DWP and it needs completing again. Is there any other phone numbers i can call, because I spoke to Valerie again today and she was no help at all.

Having spoken to Newcastle they have told me I am in the low teens for the Eo position in Greater Manchester (57875). My CRB was sent o me and I forwarded it to Newcastle and two people have phoned me since asking where it is. I have given them the name of the chap to whom i sent it (this info was given to me by Newcastle over the phone) and they dont seem to know him.Has anyone on the site been given a start on 57875 as my HR Officer seems suicidal and has taken to answering every query with "we will contact you when we get a vacancy". No more, no less.

I'm probably being thick, but with not having my paperwork to hand I dont know which if the Gtr Manc EO positions it is I applied for, but, I do know I went to Old Trafford for my assessment day and interview, is this the same as yourself? If so, I had a call weeks ago (before my ankle surgery and the cast comes off next week) stating they had filled all positions for now and would maybe taking more on over the coming months but they'd call people on the waiting list in order of position. I didn't bother asking my position as I was literally waiting to go for surgery when they called.

I only have the number that is on the letters you get. I normally ring mid morning because of the shifts i work. I did ask to speak to the checking team once but she said that she would be informed by them if anything was missing and get in touch. Maybe you could fax or send one of the other crbs you have had for work? I am sure it is the same thing, they just need to check your name, D.O.B and convictions. Sorry i cant be more help

    Hi Kath,
I went to City's ground for my interview. It is the first I have heard of positions all being full. I am going to phone today and hang on like a bulldog until I have some answers. I will post later.

Despite having qualifications coming out of my ears and all the best so called "cutting edge" skills etc this has been my only opportunity too - I've been looking as far away as France, Belgium and Germany. Where is the IT skills shortage they harp on about? It's absolutely soul destroying, not one single interview or even a sniff since before Christmas.

Everyone here who has gone through this process deserves a medal for their patience. :T

Exactly - the first interview I got was after Christmas, seven months down the line. My line of work (teaching IT) seemed to dry up overnight. Looking forward to doing something completely different...

    Whoop whoop....................

Got my call yesterday for a start date for the 29th June in Southampton. So glad to finally get off my butt and start working again. Been out of work for 6 months.

    Assessment Day 28th April
    Interview Day 29th April
    Successful Letter 12th May

Its been a long tearful wait and I'm glad its all over now. I'm keeping everything crossed for all of you who are still waiting. Hopefully it wont be too long now till you receive that call.

Thank you for everyone's support, if it wasnt this thread I think i would've gone mad by now.

    Love and kisses to all
