DWP employment waiting list

tiredofwaiting wrote: »Hiya,
The peeps we speak to every so often at newcastle recruitment team or checking team have Team Managers. You're awaiting your checks to be completed right? in that case speak with one of the team member in the checking team there and ask them details of the Team Manager ie name and telephone number. I've been reading your posts here and I do really feel for you, so make sure you do that. In my case I've got my start date for the EO in Surrey but still no news for The EO in London (IRC58272) despite waiting for almost 2months. I've been waiting and waiting, been fed with different information each time I call up the recruitment team.
Still staying positive lol
(((tiredofwaiting))) thanks.
Disregarding the overall debacle of my general application experience, I can sort of see the logic in my EO post application. I was on the waiting list, then I got taken off, then (with a few hiccups) my checks progressed, so I SHOULD be on the final furlong now. 'My' HR officer also feels a bit guilty, I can hear it in her voice, lol. I'm ringing DS back on Monday to check on my checks, then (on advice from my HR woman) waiting '7-10' days to hear from the area manager. If there's nothing concrete by then, yes, I might just crack up completely and become an unemployable, gibbering wreck, muttering darkly about the DWP on street corners.:idea:0 -

No, mine was not that IRC number. Can't face looking at the paperwork now but it was the EO vacancy advertised in JANUARY!!!!:idea:0 -

They may have started people who applied for EO positions before checks have been completed as the training is longer for you, and JC can work around you not being able to access the mainframe computer systems before checks are completed.
AO positions are mainly Computer based and the training is around 1 week so I do not envisage AO positions being offered until they have CRB clearance, as you can't do your Job without accessing the system, and you cant access the system without CRB clearance.
In your area they must of been desperate for staff and are able to work around you as yours is an EO position not AO.
Chi Chi has applied for a position as an administrative officer and the checks do need to be completed for everyone who is due to be posted in these Jobs. I was not incorrect in my previous post.
When I worked for DWP as an AO 2 years ago, I could not start work until the checks had cleared.
I also see from an earlier post by yourself, you stated you have started work but are not able to access the computer systems before they have CRB clearance for you!
That's cleared that up then!
They wouldn't do it a couple of years ago, not even a few months ago, but policy has changed. It even surprised my manager.
It may well be different for an AO.“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

Hi there,

I still have not recieved any details with regards to my start date tomorrow; what time to be there for and who to report to, I have no idea. And I dont think I'll recieve anything until tomorrow [at it's earliest] since todays Sunday and by then it'll be too late.
However I will be going into my local Job centre at nine am and explain my situation to them. I do not know if they are expecting me and thus to be ready for my first day.
Has anyone been in this situation before?
And also, for an AO role, what is the first day like?0
