    Hang in there twentypenceoff!
I've been feeling down for ages by the wait.
There are plenty of others on the same boat as us.
    Fingers crossed for next week

If anyone who applied for the AO position in London (IRC58758) has heard anything, let us know.

That rings a bell. Was it central London or Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth? For the former, I've had a success letter, for the latter, nothing at all. Not even whether I passed the interview (on 28 April )

The Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth one MUST be on its way (when these posties feel like delivering them!) because i got mine on tuesday. A little birdie told me they are planning to start people in clapham and kennington on 13th July which i hope is true.... although they were meant to start people this Monday originally..
One day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.
Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:

Cheers. I'm not all that bothered as I am 'nearly there' with an EO post in central London but it'd be nice to have the results anyway. It was a very weird interview, with someone rolling the Oval green in the background (somewhat distracting:D) and having a rogue competence sprung on me, with the interviewers insisting it was the one advertised (it wasn't). I have had 3 interviews (1 EO, 2 AO) and that was the last and worst (IMO) by far.

Yes!! That interview was bloody awful!!! I got that mystery competency too, i was sure i would be unsuccessful! The test day was a shambles too, with the majority of people being notified about it at 4pm the day before by email!!
I tell ya, the work you put in just getting the damn job...... lol

Well hope all goes well with the EO post and you get a start date soon.

Innit. If I'd done any further interviews I was going to use the application process as an example:D.

That's what I've been thinking. Capita is a very good example of what happens when the private sector gets it's hands on Govt business. Their only aim is to make profit so they do the cheapest, shoddiest job. My own small example of them is that they didn't send me a password for a deadline test (I only found it by following various links on a reminder email sent 12 hours before the deadline) and took twice as long marking a sift test as the DWP in-house team did. There are various other examples of shoddiness on this and similar threads, including losing someones entire records and people having to do interviews twice.

In my previous life in Whitehall, I saw so many examples. Not just Capita, various contracted bodies who pocketed tax payers money for, eg, IT support, estate management etc and gave back the barest minimum. This meant fewer jobs for civil servants, high turnover of untrained temps, a culture of 'marking down' anyone who criticised it and wholesale waste of taxpayers' money, but hey Gordon, it looked better on the cooked books.

    Hi Kelly

Thanks for the reply. I'm a little concerned that because I turned that location down they wont offer me anything else. Your're working in Cosham right??? Glad you are settling in ok. I'm from Pompey too. They offered me Southampton and Eastleigh and i said it was a bit further than i was willing to travel due to parking. They did call back and said there maybe a position in Cosham but will get back to me. Fingers crossed eh??? Who knows we may end up working together. Oh well I guess I'll keep smiling :rotfl:. I did say that if there really is nothing closer to home then I will take Southampton.
    :j

I was also offered Southampton - I told them I'd do it if they offered more cash! I started in Gosport on Monday, saving me £2500 a year travelling.

Stick to your guns and hope they have something closer for you.

I'm already in the running for an HEO job and have been advised to apply for another HEO position internally. I just need them to get me on the computer system now...

    Hi FatArse,
did you mean IRC58785? If yes, I also applied for this AO position. Was sent my 'successful' letter dated 14/05/09. Called up Disclosure Scotland today and was told everything was fine and the certificate has been sent back to Newcastle.
Spoke to a lady at Newcastle last week and apparently the position we should be allocated is Benefits Delivery Officer. I think thats the people who deal with job seekers' sign ons every fortnight. Well thats what most AOs seem to do anyway.
By the way, which job centres did you put down on your preference sheet if you dont mind me asking?

Nah mate Benefit Delivery Centres are back office and not customer facing - you deal with processing claims and maintaining claims and handling calls from customers enquiring about the different claims, JSA, ESA, ICAP, etc
