DWP employment waiting list

Good to hear from someone locally. I hope you get some good news soon. I keep chasing Newcastle, I have two numbers as I was accepted for two posts.
I remember now even at interview they said that jobs should be opening in April!!!!! Yeah right.
Anyway spoke to a Rachel Merilo in Newcastle. She first stated that I was on the main list but that was then split into 2 lists and I was not on either of them. What does this mean I asked.
She replied, I don't understand why?? I then became even more frustrated and asked if she could put me on one of the lists but she just said that's not possible!!
What are these people on? I asked her to help and call me back. She called back within 10 mins saying all of my checks have come back fine(even though my referees have not been contacted) and to just wait. She said they have to wait until they have enough people with checks cleared before they can post anyone.
All sounds suspect to me.
As for the other IRC lead by a Jan Treleaven in Newcastle, she doesn't even answer her phone... EVER.
I will keep persevering and will update if I get any useful info.0 -

What kind of problem could there be with HMRC? what i mean, i guess, is what exactly do they check for with them? sorry if its been answered somewhere already, but it just dawned on me that i don't actually know what these checks are really about! lolOne day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:0 -

Its to check your last 3 years of employment. So if you have been in employment for the last 3 years and taxes are paid then thats fine. If you've had a break, for example you've been travelling and not claimed any benefits then they will not have record of you so will need to contact your referees.
Hope that made sense0 -

Perhaps I've lost the plot. We are applying for a job, so what relevance does paying taxes for the last three years/receiving JSA have to do with anything? If they can't trace you they contact your references but what on earth does this prove? Seems to me like a complete and utter waste of time. Moreover possibly causing delays and holding everything up.!!!!!0 -

I agree with you totally. I dont see the point either. But it seems this is what is happening. None of my referees have been contacted but when i spoke to someone in Newcastle and my local tax office they said all my checks have been completed. I received a call yesterday offering me a location that was a bit too far for me. So I'm hoping for another call soon.
I guess all we can do is just sit and wait :rotfl:0 -
I'd be a bit wary of going through agencies, it is much better to go direct in my opinion. I am originally from a recruitment background and companies will usually go with their direct candidates first as they don't have to pay a fee for them.
Hi!
Just to clarify... I didn't go through an agency to apply for the job. I applied online through the DWP website back in March 2009. It was the DWP who have brought in MANPOWER to help with the recruitment campaign here in Lincolnshire.
Thanks anyway,

Hi Everybody
My friend strongly suggested this site. I received a success letter (no waiting list) for an AO role IRC58787 in West London on 20/5/09. Just wanted to know if anybody else has heard from the dwp on their situation too? I tried calling last week but was told my details had been passed on to Disclosure. Any idea how much longer I may have to wait?0 -

thats fantastic news, well done on your sucess. Hope your checks get completed smoothly. I've had a call from DWP today to let me know my start date for the fixed term (18 months) EO post in Surrey, so i'm kinda relieved thou im still awaiting my interview results for the permamant EO post in london ( I really want this one). I'll take your advice on board " No news, is good news" hehe!!
once again congrats on your success, FYI I had my interview in surrey on 25th april, sucess letter on the 2nd may, checks completed on the 8th june and finally "THE CALL" today which is the 13th june. hope this gives u a rough guide!
Hellooo!
Thanks for that. Great news on your EO postion for Surrey. I can understand you wanting London EO postion more though. I kind of wish I'd applied for London area aswell. Just think of all those people coming through the doors in London who need our help. I bet the days just fly by for the staff in the Job Centres there...

PS: I also popped on GOOGLE last night for some more information.
Just type in PCS DWP (as mentioned on an earlier post somwhere). It tells you all about SALARY, TRADE UNION, CIVIL SERVICE etc.
PPS: And if anyone one wants to know about NATIONAL SALARY BANDS FOR DWP, just pop onto GOOGLE again and type in the above. It gives several links to choose from.0
