Just rang Newcastle. Once my CRB is back (should be today or Monday) should be 7-10 days til I get 'the call'. Will be working 'somewhere in Central London'. Any of them wouldbe fine, tho there is one I could walk to that'd be ideal.

    Fingers, toes, everything crossed, lol.

What kind of problem could there be with HMRC? what i mean, i guess, is what exactly do they check for with them? sorry if its been answered somewhere already, but it just dawned on me that i don't actually know what these checks are really about! lol

    Hi!

The HMRC may also be contacted to verify that the 3 year career information that is supplied by some applicants is correct, based on the details supplied by each individual at their "form filling stage" or before interview.

I've applied for EO positions in Manchester, Preston and Warrington. Also AO job in Bolton.
I have a start date as I mentioned in earlier post for Bolton of July 6th. Manchester advised me they'd filled their quota and I was on list but they were unsure they'd need more people before I ran out of the 6 month period you stay on list for.
Preston and Warrington jobs I'm still going through process, have been successful in both and CRB checks have been returned for both, but nothing else.
I've been in this system since I did the assessment day at Old Trafford football ground seems like an age ago.
My point is, (to all this rambling) we all seem to have applied for several jobs and due to processes and duplications instead od taking 6 weeks its taking months. I think we'll all get a job of some type and we must remember to let everyone know. Give those still waiting a light at the end of the tunnel.
Really looking forward to joining the team in Bolton, anyone else from that area? Anyone else going through the process for the other jobs I've applied for?

    Hi

I can only speak from experience of what happened to me.

Basically they refused to reduce my hours 6 months down the line, thats why I left. I was going through a divorce, stressed and emotional and needed time to consider my living arrangements and they were not sympathetic at all.

Bearing in mind at that time I worked in a Jobcentre call centre not open to the public and most of the calls I received were from people requiring appointments for N.I numbers and most of them could not speak English and the Job was driving me insane!
They also had a high turnover of staff and a lot of staff were part time.

On my first day I was so happy to of been offered the Job, I think I had 3 days notice from the phonecall to the start date, I readily agreed to full time hours and signed the contract.

Another lady who started the same day as myself could only work 16 hours a week and at first they said we only have full time hours but she stood her ground and was granted part time hours. Thats the reason why I suggested standing your ground on the first day you start work.

Within an hour of starting a lady came into the training room and could not wait to get my signature on my working hours contract. Once you sign the contract your stuck with it!

I can't see them saying they will not employ you when you have already been offered the Job. Also the fact it is for a Uni placement I think you will be OK.

My advice is to talk to them on your first day and negotiate the hours you can work. They accommodated everyone who wanted part time hours even if they did not like it. You must sort this out on your first day!

Some staff worked term time only and others worked 6 months a year but you must stand your ground!

Congratulations on your start date, I also start on Monday 22nd June in a customer facing role at my local JC. Got the call yesterday.

    Good luck!

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear that you went through a hard time back then. But glad that you're through it now. Congratulations on your start too :D

And thank you for shedding light on this.

I'll explain my situation on my first day but my recruitment team leader has not sent any details to me, including what time I need to get to the job centre for and who I need to report to.

I'm hoping for a flexible contract, where I can do full time hours when I'm not at Uni.

When I recieved the call on tuesday, she said that my checks were all clear and then gave me a list of job centres that I'd like to work at. I chose the jobcentre closest to me and when I asked what time I needed to be at the jobcentre for and who to report to, she said she'd send me details. I was hoping I'd have those details by now, but unfortunately I do not. I'll expect them tomorrow.

Anyone know how long it takes for you to get this information and whats included?

Luckily for me, I have an answer message recorded from my recruitment team leader, so if worse comes to worse I'll go into my local job centre at nine and explain the situation.

    Hi

Don't worry about not receiving anything through the post. The person who telephoned also said it would be in the post, nothing as yet.

When I started work for DWP before, same scenario, I received confirmation a week after I started!

Just turn up at 9.00am to be on the safe side, they will be expecting you. You will also receive a contract stating pay, hours and pension choices from Newcastle, eventually!

The lady who phoned me to offer me my position advised me to be there for 9.30am on first day, she said Newcastle were so bogged down with forms etc they probably wouldn't get round to sending ot my letter with starting times etc on.

That is good news. I have just noticed on DWP site that they are advertising again for EOs in Merseyside District???

I noticed that too and the pay has gone up?? Does anyone know if we will have to wait till these people are taken on before we start?

Im really keeping everything crossed for next week!

    Hang in there twentypenceoff!
I've been feeling down for ages by the wait.
There are plenty of others on the same boat as us.
    Fingers crossed for next week

If anyone who applied for the AO position in London (IRC58758) has heard anything, let us know.
