DWP employment waiting list

Just one more question re. the Merseyside DWP recruitment: have all those applicants who have been unsuccessful had to wait for the result, or were they all notified right away?Hi Heveweight
Congratulations on getting your phone call for a start date! I am so pleased for you. Bet you're really made up!
Re. your quote "To all those still waiting for a postion in Merseyside, I'm sure you'll get a call very shortly as the process seems to be moving through its final stage..so dont get too down as i'm sure you'll get some good news soon," do you know if many other people on Merseyside are awaiting a start date? In regard to my own problem, I was told that my papers had been "unmarked," and as I said, I made numerous calls to ascertain what has happened, but so far nobody has got back to me yet. This is obviously led me to wonder if other Merseyside applicants encountered the same puzzling problem of "unmarked interview result papers." It really is agonising waiting and wondering just what has gone wrong here. However, if you said that the Merseyside recruitment process is moving along, then I hope that it won't be too long before I do get a phone call or letter with a start date, as it would certainly put me out of my misery!
Good luck in your new job. You deserve it.
Best wishes

To be honest there isnt much I can tell you regarding your particular stuation. I've not come across anyone who hasnt had the their interview marked. The only thing can suggest is to keep calling and pressurng them into solving the problem.
I put in a previous post that from what I understand there is a lst of 70 odd people who wll be given start dates as they become available. Hopefully you will be on that list and contacted shortly.

I applied for the EO position for Greater Manchester in March and got a letter saying I was successful in april. Since then I have had no contact from the DWP except to check what my notice is. My referee has been contacted but I ve still had no contact about start date etc and its really annoying me! It sounds like there s loads of us in the same boat.
WHat annoys me is the lack of contact and the fact that the number I have for them just rings out constantly. Its really starting to get to me!
Hi Rob - you are in the same boat as me it would seem - IRC57875. Interviewed at Man City - tests morning, interview afternoon. You should have given them all your CRB, P45 etc at that time and they apply to DS.
I assume you got your "waiting list" letter, like me on approx 20th April. I rang DS who received the CRB forms on the 18th May and sent them back a week later.
It's starting to get on my nerves too, big time. I think it's quite wrong to keep people strung along like this - for one thing it affects you psychologically when trying to continue to look for work. I'm at the stage now where I'm simply going to give up and forget about it and go back to IT contracting - how come there you can have an interview on, say, Thursday, and start the job on the Monday? If the DWP role ever comes up then well and good, but I'm just going to stash the paperwork at the bottom of the filing cabinet and forget it now. Waste of my time, but at least I've learned a valuable lesson.julietormesby wrote: »We are applying for a job, so what relevance does paying taxes for the last three years/receiving JSA have to do with anything? If they can't trace you they contact your references but what on earth does this prove?
I'm at a loss with this as well - surely just contacting ex-employers would be better? I'm very worried about this part as I've been a self-employed director of my own company since 1993 and hope that this doesn't delay things even further - although they have contacted one of my (personal) referees.
As an aside, Julie, I am appalled at what has happened to you with regard to your present employer being contacted before you even have a start date. What effect could this have in the future should your DWP start never come?0 -
:hello:Hi Orb,
Do you know what they asked your referee - did they ask them to just vouch for you as a person you would want to employ or did they want your employment history confirming?
Good luck btw (I put the smiley at the beginning of my post and now can't move it!)0 -
Hi Pansalar - I don't actually know - it won't have been work related though; it was a personal reference. I will endeavour to find out.0

Hi Orb,
Thanks for this. Now wait for this, last Thursday they contacted my employer again!!!! My employer has already replied by e-mail once and now they are being asked again!!! To say the least my employer is not best happy and is now asking well are you leaving or not. My response at the moment no. Where I work is fairly small about 20 or so people so everyone knows everything. Add to this about three weeks ago they took up one of personal references. Now three weeks down the line my other referee this morning has received a request for a reference. Why on earth could they have not done the two together! the words p... up in a b...... come to mind. Also I was on the success list and not the waiting list and the letter was dated 26 April nearly two months ago!!!0 -

Thanks for all your help - I'll be starting my training on 13th july too, so relieved to finally hear something.
I was told the training would last for 3 weeks, then we'll be assigned to a specific office which they hadn't finalised for me yet (but would be close to where I live).
That's a good question re: payment during training - I'm wondering that too.0
