Well, just phoned Disclosure Scotland and there were problems with how the form had been signed by DWP. But they were sorted so it should be done within 5 working days.

So people waiting and waiting, it's DEFINITELY worth getting in touch with DS.

    Hi,
I've applied for several jobs with DWP, EO and AO. EO's Manchester area all jobs currently filled and I'm on list if any further intake.
But, I start as AO in Bolton on July 6th. So relieved, I went for interview etc months ago at Reebok Bolton. An thrilled to be starting.

Hope everyone gets to hear soon, it's the most frustrating thing to know you've been successful but still be unemployed.

    Fingers crossed for everyone. :money:

Oh that's ****ing marvelous ! I've been waiting for so long now and thought that something might actually happen since they got my DS form back on the 27th May and now I find out they're all filled.

I give up. What a disgraceful way to treat people who are out of work.

But did they say you were successful at interview or on a waiting list? If the former, you may actually be one of the ones who've filled the job (just that the area manager hasn't rung you yet).

As ever, ring em. It IS all SO frustratingly slow and obscure.

They called me to tell me all jobs had been filled and I was left on list. If they've not been in touch am sure you'll get some kind of contact. I really had lost all faith when they called me from Bolton honestly. They're really bogged down in Newcastle with all the paperwork going backwards and forwards, so much so, when they verbally gave me my start date they told me what time to attend on my first day cos they were not sure Newcastle could get letter out in time!

Don't lose faith, they are working their way through everyone.

I sometimes wonder, is this the longest thread ever to be in the Employment area of the MB. Also how Corky (the thread originator) is getting on. Did he get his job with DWP? Did he ever in his wildest dreams imagine he'd spawn a thread of this magnitude?

Also, will my 300th post magically change my status? :p

ETA: Pah, no, I'm still a stalwart.

I agree, especially if you have been waiting ages as it means there could be a problem. I called DS and they had no record of me, so I spoke to Newcastle and they are going to contact them regarding this as apparently the form has been sent. So hopefully it should get sorted out.

Also Aoki, let us know how your first day went?

Indeed. Also if they're still taking people, as Aoki's was one of the vacancies I was successful at.

I've seen a few cases on here where Newcastle don't discover these things until an applicant has called which is a bit of a worry. I know they are extemely busy but I'm surprised they don't have a follow up system in place.
  • I have just spoken to Recruitment Section at Newcastle responsible for this area and they say the list has been sent to the vacancy holder for them to sort out who gets offered where and then contact the applicant. This is all despite the fact that the CRB check is still outstanding. So it sort of confirms what others are saying that they are taking people without completed CRBs!!!
