The Erdington office is on the main road from Sutton Coldfield into Birmingham City Centre so buses run that way often. The other option would be to go somewhere like Kingstanding near the Chester Road, then you could get a bus down the Chester Road, get off by McDonalds and it would be about a 7 - 10 min walk. Erdington has a train station which would be about a 10 minute walk to the office as well. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, that's great advice.

Hi everyone - what a fascinating thread!

Has anyone applied for the Kent recruitment drive for EOs?

    Interview (Ashford): 21st April
Success (no waiting list) letter: 15th May
    Reference: IRC58390

Would love to hear from anyone who's part of the same process.

Hi - I was part of the Kent recruitment drive - see my post above. Have you had a start date yet?

Well, just got back from my hols, still no word about anything...no copy of CRB in the post, no missed calls from *likely numbers*. Bloody hell, I thought I'd managed to de-stress about all this but I'm right back in it. All the worse cos I can't ring for an update til Monday.

In brief, waiting for the OK for an EO post in central London. Came off the waiting list early May. What a wait! I applied for the post late Jan, did the tests Feb. Am also waiting for some sort of confirmation about an AO post in central London, having received a success letter a matter of days after the interview on 25 April (Aoki was in the same application). And have heard nothing at all about an AO interview for Lambeth Southwark and Wandsworth that I did on 28 April. (someone else mentioned that application earlier in the thread).

I am really hating all this. It's hard to feel any enthusiasm for it any more. It's ridiculous.

Welcome back Lili, have you called disclosure scotland to check if they have received your form? When I called Newcastle I was told they are still waiting for HMRC and CRB forms to come back and that is why it's taking so long. If DS has received your form then hopefully you shouldn't be waiting that much longer.
  • A very good afternoon all,

I had a interview for a permanant EO vacancy with DWP (IRC58272) on the 25th April 2009 at Kennington and still have not heard a reply either way if i've been successful or not, just wondering if anyone else has applied and experiencing the same delay like myself.
I have called up Employee Services a few time with not so very helpful advice. My interview I feel was one of the best interviews i've done so i'm still optimistic i've passed, just a matter of waiting a little bit longer I guess ohhhh also I applied for the Surrey EO Campaign 18 months fixed term contract, all my checks have been completed and waiting for the recruitment team to contact me for a start date, does anyone have any idea presuming i'm successful for the EO IRC58272(I would prefer to take this one as it's permanant) can all my checks be transferred over from the Surrey campaign or will they need to carry out the checks again from scratch??? i would've thought it would be logical for employee services just to transfer the checks since they have completed it already for the surrey campaign. any helpful advice would be greaty appreciated thanks.

Hi, this has been mentioned in previous posts. I think if you let your recruitment team know about it, you can have the checks cross referenced against both exercises. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply Grace. Forgive me if i'm asking a silly question but is the recruitment team unified in newcastle or are there different recruitment team depending on where you have applied, does anyone have a recruitment number to hand?? the only telephone numbers I have is the number for the checking team and the numbers from the letters of corresspondence from DWP Employee services ( not sure if employee services are the recruitment team). thanks!!
  • I start as an EO on Monday but applied for an HEO position on yesterday on the advice of the person who called to sort out my start date - I hope my new manager doesn't mind...
