Erdington's well served by public transport, you won't have any problem getting around.

Thank a lot, I'll keep looking around. Sorry to ask so many questions, just there's only so much you can tell from websites etc, always better coming from someone who is vaguely familiar with the area.

Thanks for all the replies about HEO. I did ask at interview but couldn't remember much about what I was told.

Still no phone call for me but hopefully it won't be too long.

I'm afraid I have no clue about Erdington so I'm glad someone else has jumped in to help you. :T

    Good luck everyone. :T

Thanks a lot for your help. The only thing that limits me in choosing where to live is that I don't drive and would be reliant on public transport. Are there quite good links public transport wise in this area? I am willing to pay up to £625 pcm, but around £550pcm would be better.
The Erdington office is on the main road from Sutton Coldfield into Birmingham City Centre so buses run that way often. The other option would be to go somewhere like Kingstanding near the Chester Road, then you could get a bus down the Chester Road, get off by McDonalds and it would be about a 7 - 10 min walk. Erdington has a train station which would be about a 10 minute walk to the office as well. Hope this helps.

Same interview and letter dates as me. I have only put 2 preferences down though, but now thinking i could/should have put more!
:jHi again-Further to my earlier post about Cambs/Suffolk, I received my Disclosure Scotland today. I inadvertantly opted to have it sent to my home address, but at least I know that it is moving along. This has now gone to Newcastle, and I have read that DS is the last check that is completed as DWP have to pay. It makes sense, as you could fail one of the other checks, and they have paid for nothing. If you opted to have your DS sent direct to DWP, then they probably have yours as well, as I believe that these are sent in batches from a particular exercise.:T

Well, just got back from my hols, still no word about anything...no copy of CRB in the post, no missed calls from *likely numbers*. Bloody hell, I thought I'd managed to de-stress about all this but I'm right back in it. All the worse cos I can't ring for an update til Monday.

In brief, waiting for the OK for an EO post in central London. Came off the waiting list early May. What a wait! I applied for the post late Jan, did the tests Feb. Am also waiting for some sort of confirmation about an AO post in central London, having received a success letter a matter of days after the interview on 25 April (Aoki was in the same application). And have heard nothing at all about an AO interview for Lambeth Southwark and Wandsworth that I did on 28 April. (someone else mentioned that application earlier in the thread).

I am really hating all this. It's hard to feel any enthusiasm for it any more. It's ridiculous.

OK can I clarify something. Is the police check a CRB check or a Disclosure scotland? Or are they the same thing?!

Good to see you back, hope you had a good hol. There has been mention of DWP taking people on before all checks are complete, and continuing these during employment, so hang on in there;)

It must be so frustrating for those of you who have been waiting ages. I must have been really lucky - my interview was 30th April, received my success letter 16th May and received a call last week asking me to start on 22nd June.
I'm a bit confused about salary though - the info I was given before the interview says min salary is £21,910, but that seems higher than some adverts I've seen for EO positions. I know I should try and ring, but they seem very unhelpful in Newcastle - I actually called them last week to check how things were going and the woman said she couldn't tell me and just to wait - 2 hours later I received a call offering me a job!

There is the national pay rate, the inner london pay rate, the outer London pay rate and then special pay rates for special areas. So what you get will depend on what area you will be working in. For instance an EO in inner London will receive a much higher pay rate than say someone working in Suffolk. Also a lot of these jobs will have been advertised much earlier in the year, since then there may well have been a small pay rise.

    I hope this helps.
