Hi everyone. I had an interview on 29th April and recieved a letter on 11th May saying ive been sucessful and theyre doing checks etc but not heard anything since. Did anyone else have an interview in Southampton for the AO position and have they heard anything yet?

Hi there. I had my interview for the AO position in Southampton on the 28th April, i received my successful letter the same date as you. Not heard anything since. I called Disclosure Scotland last week and there was a hold up. My checks had come back fine, but there was some kind of admin error on the DWP side which has now been rectified. Give them a call if you havent yet. Good luck and let me know your progress.
  • I have received feedback for my AO interview at Watford Benefit Delivery Centre saying that I have been unsuccessful. I find it really frustrating as I thought the interview went really well. I really don't know where I could have gone wrong, I was really well prepared. I was really looking forward to getting a positive response as a I really need a job. I was willing to spend over £80 a week to commute from London!

Do you think it's worth writing to them for feedback ?

What about other AO/BDC vacancies, is there likely to be more for London or areas that are commutable from London any time soon.
  • I've just rang Disclosure Scotland as well, they have no record of me - lime a lot of other people on here!! :(

I am so angry. The woman I spoke to said their turnaround time now for checks is 5 days, so the excuse they've given me over and over again for the last 9 weeks of waiting have obviously been lies!!

Just rang up my local recruitment people and complained, they're going to ring me back, i shall keep you updated.

Success letter was dated 26 April. Phoned Disclosure Scotland numerous times who said no record!!! Newcastle have previously said "we are still waiting their return". Today (20 working days after success letter) told that about 10 or so of my batch's forms still sitting in their old office!!!!!!! MORAL IF YOU ARE OVER 20 WORKING DAYS GET NEWCASTLE TO CHECK.

Although others in this batch may have had their checks completed recruitment sections works on a strict merit list which means say Nos 1 and 2 okay but still waiting for No3 then it all stops until No3 is cleared one way or another. MORAL IF YOU HAVE HAD YOUR CHECKS OTHERS HIGHER UP THE LIST THAN YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE WHICH WILL HOLD IT UP FOR YOU.

    Keep smiling!!!!

My son was working as a TEMP AA with Works and Pensions, he also had an extension contract, and now applying for a permanent vacancy within the same dept but as an AO.
His extended contract ended in April, so he would be happy to return.

Please wish him luck, cheers and good luck to everyone else as well.;)

I wish him loads of luck especially with their dinosaur recruitment system which simply isn't working/adequate ... well, so say over 1000 posters.

This must be one of the most read/posted threads on MSE simply because of the uncertainty everyone is going through WRT the Newcastle office and Diclosure Scotland who keep pointing the finger of blame at one another while we wonder where the next mortgage payment is going to come from!

Please sort it out! We don't want to sign on and I'd never been made redundant/unemployed in my life until now ... plus I'm especially fed up with daytime TV (except Countdown which I hope is keeping a few braincells alive lol).

I recieved a successful letter 11th May and havnt heard anything since. I have called Newcastle with to find out whats going on and they give the usual lines about checks etc. I called Disclosure Scotland today and they havnt even recieved anything for me! I am so cross and cant even get through to Newcastle. Im a struggling mum of 3 and i want to go back to work so i can provide better for my family. I feel so let down by this process. I was so excited when i got the successful letter and now it seems like ill never start work

Hey guys! I just wanted to update and say that I've recieved my confirmation email now! *Stress head.

Wish everyone the best of luck, really hope you hear something very soon. When I was ringing up DWP they said that they contact people once a number of CRBs are back as they wish for people to start together etc.

Rang Job Centre today in Lincoln to say that as I already have a job in Sleaford where I live with the NHS I would be mad to resign to work in Lincoln nearly 20 miles away for an extra £50 per year on what I am on at the moment and an extra 7 days leave per year!! I asked if I could stay on the waiting list for a vacancy in Sleaford but unfortunately they said NO. Lincoln was placed as my 3rd choice. All I can say is what a pointless exercise and a waste of tax payers money. Good luck to all those still waiting but don't hold your breath on getting your first choice, try the NHS their systems are much quicker and simplier.

Lincoln was my 3rd choice but it was the only place offered. So if you don't want to travel don't bother putting down other locations like I did. Now I have been taken off the list.
