Can anyone answer my question on commuting, I am obviously looking to save as much money as possible so would love feedback.

I am going to be commuting from Grimsby to Lincoln daily, I have calculated car costs to be around 9 - 10 pound per day, however parking isnt provided so I will also have to pay approx £7 per day parking.

The alternative is train, same travel time, £49 a week using a season ticket so approx £10 per day. This can come down to about £40 per week if I buy a yearly ticket (£1960) but no chance of that atm, lol

Does anyone have any other ideas or know of any cheap parking in lincoln around Brayford Area.

    Hi Shaun

Just interested to know if you put down the office in Lincoln as one of your choices or whether DWP just pulled it out of the hat?

We were given a list of 8 areas and told to number them 1 - 8 in the order you would like to work at. I believe I put lincoln as my number 1

Maybe you had something on your mind therefore chosing it as your first option. Ihad selected certain areas in order of preference but my first choice was 10 minutes from where I live. It's not only about the money it's your own time and when you finish work it ll be a pain. Not good I think. What about bus fares?Amonthly card by bus costs 40 pounds plus you can check where your colleagues park their cars there might be a parking with low rates, eg 3.50£ for all day, like there is where I work.

Congrats to all who have dates and to those who haven't I too have been waiting 6 weeks for my start date for the EO post and I don't even know where I am going. I email Newcastle once a week and don't get a reply and this as I have stated before from an AO for the past 15 years. When I asked on 19/5 I was 45th on the merit list and haven't heard anything since. My checks had cleared by the 19th so I don't have a clue what is holding things up.

Congratulations Aoki, that's good news :T Hopefully this means the rest of us waiting for Central London positions should hear something soon.

Thank you Grace! I think you should do by this coming week

Regarding the email- I think I need it as I need directions/times etc. I'll ring DWP if I haven't recieved anything by mid week.

What's the dress code like? I can imagine my feet will die in heels, within a day!

:confused:I also got phone call on Friday offering me an AO post in Lincoln. Wanted Sleaford as my 1st choice, think Lincoln was 3rd on my list of preferences. I just started work on Monday with the NHS in Sleaford. Think that with the pay rise in July from DWP to £15150 I would only be £50 per year better off than I am on currently. With NHS currently get 27 days leave & PH - DWP 20 days leave & PH (1st year) then rising to 25. Don't have much travel costs with NHS only 1,5 miles from home no car parking charges where as Lincoln will be 20 miles each way and about £4.50 car parking per day.
Unfortunately have made up my mind to stay at the NHS, but gonna say when I ring back tomorrow that I would have started if Sleaford had vacancies!! Does anyone know if they will keep me on the waiting list for a vacancy there or when I don't accept thats it all over??

But at the end of day whats the point in working for nothing!!! I was lucky to get offered job at NHS - 138 people applied for my post.....

Well done to everyone who starts in Lincoln on the 15th. I will be thinking of you and my dream job.
  • Further to my last post, I have found out from another HR contact about two weeks ago that all my pre-recruitment checks have now been completed, and it was just a case of waiting for 'the call' as she was unable to give me any further info. Has anyone else received a call yet with a job offer in relation to the Jobcentre EO roles in the Sunderland area? I'm still applying for other jobs and quite frankly all I want to know is where I stand with the DWP job... even a timescale of 3 months down the line for a start date would be ok by me, but it's the not knowing that is driving me round the twist !!! Help anyone ?!!!:confused::confused::confused:
  • Hi everyone, this is my first post but have been checking this thread a lot.

I was successful for 2 AO posts in greater manchester back in March!!. One IRC was 57186 or 57176 I think. Just wondered if anyone else has any more info on these posts.
I have been in touch with Newcastle and they are not very helpful at all. I sent them my CRB and that came back last week but I was hoping it would accompany an offer. Sadly, it didn't.

I am now at my wits end. It has been 3 months and no sign of acceptance. I can't believe they offer people jobs only to put them on a waiting list which may lead nowhere. Sorry for sounding so pessimistic but could really do with some good news.

    Amar.

Has anyone completed the online EO test for London recently only to receive an email a few days later to say it hasn't been completed?!

I've emailed the DWP contacts with absolutely no response whatsoever.....so what's new, lol.

The original deadline was the 4th June & now it's been extended to the 8th (today).
