    Hello all,

Not posted on this before, I went for the EO position, had my interview on 21st April and received success and waiting list letter on the 21st May. I've received the disclosure scotland form and spoken to Newcastle, however am in the middle of the waiting list (number 48) so waiting to hear!

I'm lucky to be in a position at the moment, however quite excited about the possibility of joining the DWP; hoping that I get something however I applied to highlands & islands so a lot of people above me on the list are in a completely different area.

I've never applied to DWP before, so hoping that I get something before the waiting list drops me off; just put me down a bit hearing so many people are above me!

Good luck to everyone who is waiting.
  • Just thought i'd post on my experience of this.

I took the interview for an AO (band B) position in late April. Got my success letter through around 3 weeks after that on may 15th. Got my phonecall today to confirm my startdate, which is Monday the 8th of June. Quite short notice with regards to starting less than a week from my phonecall, but I'm happy nevertheless. Oh, and this is in the Glasgow district. Things have run quite smoothly to be honest.

Hope that helps, and good luck to everyone who is still waiting!
  • so when you are on a wait list, is that a national wait list ie for the whole of the UK or is it a wait list just for the areas you applied for?

Has anyone taken the newly 1 hour online tests before invite to interview? Are they literacy/numeracy?

    Plz someone help...

Yes, I took the HEO online test a couple of weeks back. It's a timed test, so if you don't complete it you will not be considered and will fail test.

The test is made up of maths, deduction and psychometric testing.....all multiple choice.

You get a couple of test questions first.

    Cheers

Thanks for your reply but I didnt mean the HEO test - I meant the test for AO/BDO/EO Positions - Are they a replacement for the literacy/numeracy tests? Because if u pass 1hour test -> Then go to Interview

I dont know if its the same one as HEO as I've taken the HEO myself but its for much higher grade

Well done - less than three weeks from letter to phone call, that's a really quick turnover!:T
  • Hi

I received a success letter on 29 may for an EO job in Stockton (IRC59185) and currently undergoing 'pre-recruitment checks'.

I was very surprised at my success as I thought my interview went badly - I even told the interviewers that I thought I hadn't performed very well. Also they told me that they would be recruiting 12 people and interviewing 110 so I had low expectations of being successful.

Does anyone have any insight as to how long everything might take. I have not been told anything about waiting lists.

Like many on here it has been an interesting time getting a job offer.

Though luckily for me things went pretty smoothly. I attended a total of 6 interviews for various EO positions in London. For both 18 month and permanent contracts. _pale_

I got job offers for all positions applied. My Disclosure Scotland checks came back within a couple of weeks.

The Southern Regional Office (Bromley) kept me informed about what was happening about my application with them on a regular basis.

I received a telephone call this morning offering me my first preferred location, followed up by an email which I had to reply to confirming I accepted the offer.

My start date is Monday 15th June. :T I have spent the day calling around other offices withdrawing from other job offers. So for anyone on a waiting list for a London EO position you should have gone up one position:eek:.

    Cheers.

    Congrats on job offer.

The trick to getting through interview is not to be too nervous and talk to the interviewers. Also practice compentency answers. In several of my interviews we ended up laughing alot. I think its different for everyone. Though I do know another candidate who is starting the same day I am and her plan was also to get them laughing.:rotfl::rotfl:

Pre employment checks (Disclosure Scotland/Tax records) are taking about 2 weeks at the moment. Though it really depends when the Disclosure Scotland form was sent through and if you are getting results sent to you, or did you give permission for form to be sent directly to DWP Newcastle. They also check your tax records to confirm that your employment history is correct. References are usually taken at the same time job offer and start date are given....though this may differ depending on region.

    Cheers
