  • Does anyone have any details of the different bands in the dwp? I'd quite like to know.
  • Yeah, its not bad eh? One thing that may have helped the process along was that I had a fairy up to date disclosure of my own, so I put the ref. details for this down when I was applying for my dwp disclosure. I cant be certain but I think this would speed the disclosure process up since it means they only have to check the past few months gap between the 2 disclosures rather than my whole background.

It may have sped yours up initially, however I think they wait until a whole batch are clear before they contact you (from what I can gather - if anyone knows different do let me know).

I phoned Newcastle this morning about my case (success letter on 7th May for Merseyside EO IRC) - apparently no files have been passed over to branches yet, still waiting for checks to be completed. She mentioned something about the checks now being computerised, which should speed things up and it should happen soon. I've had an excellent service both times I've rung.

They will call back, i had this problem a couple of days ago, I called them and they said they would get someone to call me back and they did - as with everything it's just a case of waiting
You saying this has prompted me to phone Newcastle to find out about my application, and just as you said, they said they will ring me back when they have found out who is actually dealing with the recruitment for my area! I have however had it confirmed that I have passed all checks and am just waiting for a start date, which has cheered me up no end!!:rotfl:

That ties in with my call today, I rang the guy who deals with the exercise im on, before he always said he will try and find out and went off looking or said he was busy and will call me back. Today however he said hang on while I check on the computer, he came up with all the details instantly and told me I should expect a call within a couple of days.

I think the new offices also have a nice new computer system which seems to be improving things, he definately sounded more cheerful on the phone probably from not having to run around looking for files, lol

This happened to me just now, got given a different number to ring and it was engaged. I went to ring one more time and i actually got through to someone. Then i gave them my details, they said someone would check my records and ring me back. Im waiting for the call now i dont know how long it will be eek.

Hmm I just managed to get through to someone who was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Told him its been about 7 wks since I/V and 4 weeks since success letter, and I just wanted to check all was going ok, and then he just sounded like he was reading from a script and told me that the disclosure scotland checks would take 12-14 days from the day I sent it off and I should hear in the next month. So when I clarified that Id already waited a month and did that mean that I should hear soon, he just repeated what he had said again...considering that my CRB form was given in at the interview, this line was not exactly helpful! Perhaps I should call back and ask for more specifics about my job offer as others hear have done? He just seemed to be talking so generally...he was friendly enough but SOOO frustrating that he was so blase about the whole thing...just telling me to sit tight!!
  • Successful pending pre-recruitment checks letter for EO role South East Bucks on 11/05/09. Personal references emailed out and replied 13/05/09.

Phoned Newcastle again today for progress report, again they can tell me nothing other than they are waiting on all checks to be completed for everyone. Couldn't tell me which of mine were back, how long I might have to wait or much else really. Other than they are very busy. Lucky them! :-) I wish I was!

There are alot of stories on here that sound exactly like what I am going through!!

Had my tests for EO positon on 17th April, went for interview 18th April, success letter nearly 2 weeks later (dated the 26th April arrived around the 28th), CRB came back 2 weeks ago, sent it off to Newcastle, got it back 1 week later, now just waiting for phone call, its all very frustrating!!

1 strange thing that happened though, when I went into my local jobcentre last week where I hope to be working, (I am currently signing on) my advisor knew already that I may be working there soon, and she mentioned to someone that they wouldn't see much of me because I would be grade C, I didn't even know what grade C was until I went home and searched for it on the web afterwards!! lol!! She obviously knew more than she was letting on!!

Had EO interview on 18 April, successful letter dated 26 April saying they were going to do pre-employment checks etc. Heard nothing. Disclosure Scotland say they have no record of my name!!!!! DWP checking section say they need 20 days to undertake the checks but this is 20 working days and from the date they receive the batch of papers, in my case they did not receive the papers until 8 May so, allowing for the two bank holidays they say I should hear the week commencing 8 June.

As for civil service grades they are AA AO EO (Band C) HEO SEO Grade 7 etc.

You got more out of Newcastle than I have managed to on any calls, I just get the message, checks are being carried out, phoned same person at least four times now and that's all I get.

Had first interview for EO at Wolverhampton 04/04, I know employment check and disclosure check completed but can't get any further news, anyone else waiting on IRC58423 or IRC58407?
