Could you post Disclosure Scotland's phone number please. Given what people are saying, I think I need to ring them too.

Perhaps I should mention that on speaking to the 'checking team' at Newcastle as opposed to the Recruitment team, when I mentioned that Disclosure Scotland had no record of my name, he said it does not surprise him apparently they have said this when he has had a completed disclosure (by them) already on his desk?

It seems to me this in itself is a very laborious process, the initial sift, the tests and then the interview. The letters i.e. successful, successful but on waiting list and not successful. Then it is a mamoth recruitment exercise, probably made a lot worse by all our constant phone calls. That said I think it could have been made easier for us all if things had been explained a little better.

Now I hear they have e-mailed my employer asking for a reference, needless to say my employer has today advertised my job yet I have not been offered a job by them!!!!!

My interview was 28th Feb and I'm still waiting

Hi lili and tbl. Have you phoned them? When I did they actually told me when the letters were going to be sent out to the applicants.

Oh yes. Lol. Admittedly I was on a waiting list and was taken off it about 6 weeks ago but the checks are STILL ongoing, due to the office move.

I also passed an AO interview (no waiting list) end April and heard nowt about that either. Sigh.

    Hi there
I'm new to this but i felt i needed to share my experience with you all. I've just spent the last couple of hours reading through everyones comments and i hope this will help others.

My assessment day was at Southampton Football Stadium 27/04/09. The interview was the following day 28/04/09. I received my acceptance letter on 12/05/09.

Like everyone else I have been patiently waiting for my checks to come back. I filled in the Newcastle address as advised at the interview to save time.

I've just called up Disclosure Scotland today and was told that all had come back fine on 20/05/09 but there was an error with the admin part on the back of the form. What had happened was the lady who had signed the back of the form had to put a code in for them to be invoiced. The code and the name on the form did not match up. The code that was put in was assigned to another memeber of staff. Hope this makes sense so far. They have sent out 2 letters to the DWP to sort this out. As yet they have heard nothing. Luckily I called today as they were going to cancel my details from their system.

What I'm trying to say is if anyone has been waiting around like me and not heard anything, they should try calling Disclosure Scotland.

Sorry to go on. I've tried calling the lady who's name is on the form but its too late today. I will try in the morning. Keep your fingers crossed for me :D

oh btw good luck to everyone who was at Southampton Football Stadium when I was there for my interview.

Was there on the 18th April at Soton and had my acceptance letter same week as you - think Ill call disclosure scotland now, thanks! Let me know how yours goes...hopefully we will both be hearing from them soon x

    Hi lili!

I phoned Disclosure Scotland about an hour ago and they've never heard of me! lol I assumed the DWP/Newcastle people would have sent off my form when they sent me the successful/pre-recruitment checks letter (never assume anything). I'll have to call them tomorrow. The Sco. Dis. website says a 5 day turnaround, although I did notice a comment just above from julietormesby!

It's funny you saying about passing your AO as well as EO. I applied for an AO and EO job back in Jan/Feb and was didn't even get an interview for the EO, but passed the selection tests and was interviewed for the AO post. I was unsuccessful! lol I then applied for another EO post (exact same application form and answers to before) and was successful all the way - this is the one I'm waiting on now. In the meantime, out of desperation and a severe hatred of Jeremy Kyle and daytime TV, I applied for an AA job, same application form as the previous AO one, and I didn't even get an interview! pmsl Can someone please explain the criteria for deciding who gets interviewed!

Short answer to that is 'no', though there has been much musing on the subject :rotfl:

Hi - I spoke to Newcastle some time ago regarding an initial sift. It was for Benefit Delivery at Watford. I was told that because of the huge volume of applications for that particular post, they had to raise the bar. It would seem that the criteria is raised or lowered depending on number of applications, and the standard of answers.:j

Hi all, I started on Monday working in an AO position in a BDC. I have in 3 days been moved to 3 different sections and I am only half way through my induction week! Started out heading to income support processing then was moved to income support telephony and then was told I would be on incapacity telephony! Our trainer was a bit flumoxed by it all, it appears they are having a shuffle round of people and kept changing their minds as to where we are going to end up!! Anyways, just wanted t say a big DONT WORRY to other people starting, everybody has been so friendly and helpful.
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

To all previous, present and “future” DWP employees - My experience with DWP – I Finally have a start date!!!! J

    Job: Benefit Delivery Officer/BDO/Band B

    DEC 2008 – Applied
    8TH JAN 2009 – Took tests
    13TH FEB 2009 – Attended Interview
24TH FEB 2009 – Wrote to me – passed & on waiting list
7TH & 8th APRIL 2009 – CRB form sent to me to fill in and send back to DWP to send off to Scotland
    20th APRIL 2009 – Pre-recruitment checks being done
21ST APRIL 2009 – Request to complete health, character, criminal record forms again (already done at interview but had expired)
14th MAY 2009 – DWP sent my CRB off to Scotland for processing
01 JUNE 2009 – CRB back from Scotland, checks come back all clear
02 JUNE 2009 – Phone call to ask me which location I want to work and start date!

That’s my experience with DWP and all in all, I was on the waiting list for 14 weeks! – I remained positive and very patient and kept on following up everything (CRB, Checks, waiting list position, interview score etc)

Would have preferred a customer faced role but I'm not complaining! (still on waiting list, checks being done for AO positons too)

I’d like to say a special thanks to each and every person who contributed on this forum with their advice, feedback, experiences and help to do with DWP and recruitment process. Special thanks go to those already working for DWP as well those who will be soon (hopefully). I’d like to wish people the best those who are applying/on waiting list/awaiting checks and hope you all get a start date soon (when you get the call, it’s a great feeling) – especially after waiting so long!

Thanks for reading and hope I didn’t bore you too much: P lol

Norfolk - the closing date for applications was 23 March!! Today is 3 June

I am Norfolk too!! Which branch was your first choice? I have had my CRB check back, but none of my references have been contacted as far as I am aware. I phoned Newcastle today and I was told that all I was waiting for was for my branch to designate a start date although he did say he would ring back and he didn't, hopefully he will tomorrow!!
