DWP employment waiting list

Hi....Has anybody else received this letter?, or anyone understand it?.......
I applied for an AO job in Corby. I was put on the waiting list, and have filled in all the forms. I received my disclosure back about 2 weeks ago, which as expected was clear.
REF IRC56491
We previously notified you in writing on 26 March that you had ben placed on our waiting list pending satisfactory completion of our mandatory pre-appointment checks.
Following completion of these checks, we hoped that we would be in a position to offer you a post during June, unfortunately due to the current climate we are unable to do so at this time.
Therefore you will remain on the waiting list for 6 months from 26 March. We would hope to offer you a position during this time, though I cannot guarantee this.
We will contact you as soon as we have any further information. In the meantime, congratulations on your success.
Success???..........current climate???.........
Is this letter just a fob off?
Grateful for any comments..................0 -

I guess it means they've filled all the posts on the vacancy or suddenly had to reduce or move funding for the posts. It's an update on the waiting list situation. Not a very heartening one (and it worries me, this could happen to any of us still on the waiting list).
But there IS (apparently) quite a high turnover of new starters so it's worth you ringing up to find out what position you are on the waiting list.
Very frustrating for you.:idea:0 -

Thanks for the replies, it's true that anyone on a waiting list could get a letter like this. I just don't understand why it was sent. There was never any mention in any previous letter about jobs being available in June, so why not just keep me on a waiting list and not send the letter? I find it very strange. I don't like being congratulated on my success as 'congratulations' and 'success' don't pay the bills, jobs do.0

Ah, welcome to the strange world of DWP recruitment.....:D
Basically, it's just an update on the waiting list. It is odd to talk about the June job out of the blue. Probably better to have said 'further to our letter in March, just to remind you you are still on the waiting list. We do not have any current posts but you will be considered for 3 more months if any do come up'. Or something.
Many eons ago now (March) I got a letter saying I'd been successful at an EO interview and I'd get a post pending checks. 4 days later I got another letter saying 'oh sorry, ignore that other letter, you're actually on a waiting list and we don't guarantee you a job. That letter ended with 'congratulations on your success' too. Hardly appropriate, so I know how you feel.:idea:0 -
Hi, Has anyone been for the EO interview at Oval (IRC 58272) and received a job offer? I had my interview April 20th and not heard anything back.
Called up Newcastle couple of times and each time they have informed me that letters are being sent out but I still have not received anything.
Be good to know whether it is worth waiting or just giving up hope if people who have been successful have already got their job offers.0 -
I went to Wolves Novotel and passed my test for EO on 01/04 I have passed the check but I am still waiting for my start date and where I am going. All are Black Country areas. If it is any consolation to anyone else on this site I already work for another dept in the DWP and I am having to wait as long as everyone else to hear where I will be working and so is a colleague of mine. I have been emailing Newcastle internally and still get no reply it has been 6 weeks now since I learn that I was successful.0

Just a short post to let you know there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I applied for an EO post 20th March, had my assessment day on the 4th April and my interview on 22nd April.
I received a successful letter on 9th May and finally a phone call yesterday afternoon offering me a start date of Monday 15th June. I've an OU exam on the 17th so they're arranging to amend the start date to the 22nd. They've offered my my 3rd choice office but hey, beggars can't be choosers; I can't wait!
I've really enjoyed reading this thread, thanks to all the contributors, and like others, I've taken some heart from the fact that I wasn't alone in waiting (and waiting), feeling unsure of what might happen next or when; it's the strangest recruitment process I've ever been involved in and it sure takes some getting used to!
I'll post a note to let you know how it's going and hopefully all who are still waiting won't have to wait much longer.
Best wishes,
Derek0 -

Hi there. If you have your ref code for your Disclosure Scotland form then I suggest giving them a call. If you have been successful at the interview then your checks should be getting done. Hope this helps.
Good luck0 -
