good luck to everyone waiting and applying for work within the jobcentre. just had my first day and it was the worst thing i ever experienced. cant believe how people who work there behave!!!! soooo boring and long.
Hi-Sorry to hear that. Was it all not worth waiting for? I was at interview today at Bedford for AO position, and I was talking to a lady who was actually starting this morning. She said that she had been told that there is quite a high turnover of staff, particularly new entrants. Yet, I have spoken to a few who have started over the last two months, and they say they love it! Maybe, the long waiting game makes it appear more than it actually is. I will not know until I have started there, and seen first hand. I have applied (and got successful letters from 2 AO positions, and had my interview for the third this morning). One thing I have noticed, is that the staff differ from jobcentre to jobcentre, so that could have a bearing on how comfortable people are made to feel, particularly in the early days. I take it you are not looking forward to your second day? It may get better. Hope it does:j

    Oh no. That sounds crap.

But you won't have to be with them forever.

It was a little boring, but had an interesting chat with my manager (it was his first day in that office too)

HE was telling me the job is a doddle!

Not even sure what my job is yet, think it will be Customer Service Manager.

How interesting? I went over some of the threads and you guys need to remember when you were in our position waiting. Just be patient you may find you will enjoy the position.

I was told my brain would turn to mush over the first few days, with all the info that you'll be told.

I guess that's ato be expected.

Actually looking forward to getting cracking with the job, should be fine

  • hi

I recently attended an interview for the EO post with DWP and lo and behold I was successful but was on a waiting list which could last 12 months (the job I applied for was in the Lanarkshire area of Scotland).
Not being one to just accept this and carry on regardless, I called Newcastle to find out the score. Apparently I am 35th on the wait list but wasn't told out of how many. I also attended another interview for a diff position with the DWP and mentioned the EO post to the guy who processed my docs, he told me that when you receive the disclosure form through the post then a job offer is imminent. I got this through 2 weeks ago and forwarded it on to Newcastle as instructed. STILL NOT HEARD ANYTHIN!!!!
I have heard that they are really under pressure and they are all over the place when it comes to recruitment...

Is anyone in a similar position???

Has anyone taken the newly 1 hour online tests before invite to interview? Are they literacy/numeracy?

    Plz someone help...
  • It's a bit of both, plus the multi-choice competency questions as well for good measure. I took it on the 17 April, got a thank you email straight afterwards and then got "urgent reminders" on the 19th and 20th to complete it! Also got a reminder on the 16th BEFORE I got sent the login details! Then got 4 emails telling me off for not starting it with the logon info, three of which arrived after midnight!

This was after being unable to send in the original application until after the closing time due to a server outage!

It then took 4 weeks for the results to be analysed and they gave me telephone call on the 15/05 to tell me I had an interview on the 19th.

I'm still waiting for the results of the interview!

I applied for AO in teesdale, local paper said they were hiring 22 in Hartlepool of 100 in teesdale area.

So does this mean you could be EO or AO and could be in any job centre in area. I was told they were hoping to send them out early this week.

I know it is persumptious but how does the pay scale work?
