Icesave FSCS. Did you get it? Is it all sorted.

Well done FSCS for sorting out full payment back for my savings and ISA accounts. Would have liked the ISA certificate to be posted sooner, but still got it in the end.0

No problems at all, very impressed with the way it was all handled and grateful to have got my money back without having to deal with the Icelandic authorities0

The process was brilliant and as smooth as clockwork. Could not believe how good it was. ISA certificate came a few days later as they said it would and I was able to re-invest my money elsewhere more or less immediately. Well Done0

Both emails were caught in spam trap, but was expecting this so retrieved them okay. Refund of savings account went very smoothly and I received the form for my fixed interest account (which I'm holding to maturity) just before Christmas. Overall I've been very impressed with the way FSCS have handled this.0

The FSCS need a huge pat on the back for sorting out this mess with minimal hassle. It all went really smoothly, money all back swiftly and now reinvested in new ISA. Many thanks to all concerned. :T :T :T0

I had £13,772 in an Icesave ISA. I hadn't got the first email (and yes, I did check my spam too) and each time I logged into Icesave I tried clicking on the "Initiate claim" link but wasn't given any options when I did so. I was reading on MSE that lots of people had got their money and nearly everyone else seemed to have at least got the 1st email so I was starting to get a little concerned. This must have been around the middle of November.
When I saw an instruction to send a blank email to the FSCS if you hadn't yet got the first email, I did that and got the email straight away. The second one arrived maybe a week later and after that things went smoothly; the money arrived in my account on Dec 1st (so just outside the promised November deadline) and the certificate arrived some time after that - enabling me to at last apply for a new ISA on 13th Dec. (I did try as soon as I had the money but they couldn't process the application without sight of the certificate.)
I got the letter yesterday confirming that my new ISA (with Natwest) has been opened, but the money is still sitting in the interim account so I don't know how long it'll be before the cheque I left with them gets paid into the ISA. Fortunately it's not completely idle; most of it is offsetting my mortgage and the rest is earning interest, albeit at a lowish rate.0 -
got the money back easily. trying to put it in the isa we selected is a whole other issue. if anyone is thinking of the halifax i really would not bother at the moment as they do not know what they are doing, we are being given the run around.0

I too have been given the run around by the Halifax.
My wife and I both applied in the same telephone call for our Icesave ISA to be deposited in the Halifax. These are accounts that can be operated by telephone, online or in a Branch. We discover and we both have been subjected to different procedures. I had to produce identity, despite having had several mortgages with them and a substantial sum on deposit through a power of attorney account. My wife did not need to produce identification.
There were several problems relating to the type of account to be opened as one person told us we could open an ISA without the Icesave certificate and someone else told us something different providing we could produce the Icesave certificate at a later date.
My wife and I spent an hour and a half in a local branch sorting the situation out. ISA transfer accounts were opened. I then discovered that the Branch had transposed my wife's and my account numbers requiring me (but not my wife) to go through the whole process again. Why they could'nt sort their administrative error out themselves is beyond me.
We deposited our cheques in a Branch on 8 December after signing many application forms and given receipts for the sums deposited. I (but not my wife) was then sent the same documents to sign.
Still my ISA has'nt been sorted. But I now find that my wife's online ISA account is showing £4000 less than the sum deposited. And it seems they have opened a brand new 2008/2009 ISA meaning in effect thyat I have two ISAs running for that tax year.
I've spent ages on the phone trying to sort it out and spent a lot of time in the Branch. They acknowledge that they have got it wrong but still its not sorted.
The whole organisation is an absolute shambles. The people on the phone haven't a clue and their Branch staff are similarly clueless. No wonder they nearly went bust.Take my advice at your peril.0 -
This has been one of the very few times were something in this country has actually worked better than expected.
The only way it could have been better is if it was faster, but I can't complain about it.0 -
Electronic stuff 10 out of 10
Paperwork 1 out of 10
IMHO
(Speaking as someone still waiting for paper application form for account which ended on November 24th. Requested November 12th.)0
