  • FSCS did a fantastic job! My husband and I both had accounts and we used the electronic and paper processes (one each) without any hassle and got our money back when they said we would.

Faultless - which, sadly, is a very pleasant surprise nowadays!
  • I do think the UK FCS people pulled out all the stops here but remember must have had total cooperation from the Icelandic Authorities, just thanks to all concerned. We are lucky to be in the UK and covered by the FCS scheme, many people NOT so lucky...
  • A really impressive task carried out by the FSCS - they beat their own timescales and I found it to be a simple and timely process.
I was very concerned as to whether this would work and the vision of all the guys queuing outside Northern Rock earlier this year came to me. It's a long way to Iceland to join a queue!
  • I was really impressed. Didn't get the first email but as soon as I realised that I should have I sent FSCS an email and they acted immediately. Money now safely received - just don't know where to put it!
  • All went smoothly with reinstatement of ISA money (including interest). I decided to leave the fixed term account alone and have had to fill in some paperwork to that effect. Hopefully will receive cheque on maturity.
    Well done FSCS!

I got my money back in mid November and I was pleased that in the end, it turned out to be so fast. The only disappointment after that was the delay in the ISA certificates, which meant losing out on many good deals, but luckily I still got a not so bad bonus rate offer with NatWest opened in time (although the cheque is yet to clear into it, so still not 100% over Icesave!).

The whole saga has cost me a few hundred quid in lost interest but overall I'm very happy that I didn't lose an awful lot more!
  • :j Easy, thanks to the FSCS. Although I had 1 year fixed-rate decided to take the cash plus interest early. HSBC still managed their slow credit to my account of the cash (no change there!!!!).

FSCS compensation went well which is more than can be said for trying to reinvest with Nat West - customer service and consistency is not their forte!

  • I was knocked out by the clear communication and standard of service, and stunned by the fact that the authorities seemed to go out of their way to make things easier than I expected.
My only gripe is that I didn't opt for a 'fixed term - fixed rate' deal and was forced out so quickly!
  • The FSCS were excellent. I never expected to get my money back so quickly. Well done.
