I received my certificate yesterday so now need to check out where to put it back into. Only have £3,118 and this was my first ISA, guidance welcome.0

ISA and Instant Access money came through very quickly. The money from a fixed rate account maturing at the start of December hasn't come through yet. I opted to keep that one and another one maturing at the end of August 09 to term, calculating that, even with the six week delay the FSCS said would happen at the end of the term before I got my money, I would be better keeping them in. I'll only start to complain if the December money isn't with me by the end of January.0

How right you are. I've had various badly bungled dealings with the Halifax in the past. The worst involved trying to sort out an ISA application that went wrong. I was referred to an office in Derby, one in Liverpool and one in Halifax( or was it Leeds?) as well as my local branch. It took three months. Pity the highly efficient Bank of Scotland ever threw its lot in with that shower.0

If I had actually HAD the paperwork for my Fixed Term Account (ended Nov 24th, claimed Nov 12th) I would have been happy to wait six weeks.
As it is, I have received diddly-squat, so am resigned to anything up to a three month wait to receive my funds.
(Eg If paperwork received and returned today - ha ha, v.unlikely - six weeks from today - around Feb 16th - I get cheque. Nov 24th to Feb 16th is 12 weeks.)
If I'd had any inkling that it would take that long, or their FAQs had even hinted at it, I'd have taken my cash electronically without a second's thought.
Shame on you FSCS for making such a mess of the paperwork and refusing to discuss individual cases on the phone.
And shame on me for going down the paperwork route.:mad:0 -
I'm one of the substantial number (I believe) of people where the 'principal account' details were wrong, so I have to wait for the paper process to begin - I don't know why they couldn't simply let you correct the details so that I could have used the electronic compensation. Hopefully, the letter is winging its way to me now, but it is all a bit late now that the savings rates have all plummeted. Should I spend or save???0

I received the paperwork just before Christmas and sent it away return of post.
What happens now? As I understand it, the next thing that should happen is a cheque coming through the post sometime in the next 2 months.
What if my paperwork was never received? There should be an email or mail response saying the post has been received and if you don't get anything within, say, 6 weeks from the date of this communication then something has gone wrong.
As it is, all I can do is wait patiently for something that may never come.
The BACS transfer worked really well because it was such a fast process. Once you had the second e-mail you had the money within a few days.0 -
Emails received no problem, but some issues logging in (mainly due to never having logged into the icesave site before, so log-in details didn't work). However, one quick call to the helpline and this was resolved - callcentre staff absolutely brilliant - could not fault them AT ALL.
Money received within one week of requesting it, paperwork including certificates, within one more week.
Overall well done to all involved - process ran smoothly and efficiently......

I'm one of those people who transferred my ISA in September, thanks to the effeciency & snails pace speed of the A&L....the cheque bounced. I now possess a rare Icesave cheque.
Upon informing the FSCS of my predicament of no cash, no account and possession of bounced cheque so many times that I have lost count the FSCS have today eventually admitted following endless reassurances that I have been 'miss-informed' by them.
I was promised a claim form was being posted on the 30th December, today still nothing in post and upon phoning it now transpires that they have pacified me once more and they quite simply have NO idea when I may be able to claim compensation.
From where I'm sitting they've dealt with the majority, got their headlines and left those in my situation with nothing, no info, no support.....
Rant over!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:0 -
I do sympathise BROGA. Is it worth trying to send in a paper form ( see scan posted on MSE) with a photocopy of the Icesave cheque?
I too was promised different dates by which I would receive an application. These dates came and went.
My opinion of the phone support is not glowing as previously mentioned. I'd take a chance. You've nothing to lose after all.
Good luck to you and others still awaiting forms.0
