Just opened the cheque this evening, total was slightly less than the 7% I was expecting, I assume this is taking income tax on the interest into account.
I'll give the FSCS a call to clarify, but anyone else found the same ? Anyone had a tax statement along with the compensation amount ?
FSCS confirmed that tax had been deducted at 20% (there was still a very slight difference in the final amount due to the time taken for my initial cheque to clear which meant I lost 2-3 days interest), and offered to send me a tax cert. to include with my next tax return.
