Icesave FSCS. Did you get it? Is it all sorted.

I never received any of the emails and I followed the FSCS website for details. My Fixed Rate matured on 261108 and I, having failed to receive any contact from FSCS, completed the contact form online on 191108. I heard nothing and on 261108 rang the help-line and was advised to change my email address which I did for the account, having done that the postman arrived with the application for compensation form (which does have a bar code). I completed it and returned it the same day to the Darlington address. I have heard not a thing but will start phoning and becoming a nuisance once the 6 weeks are up on 7th January. In case you are wondering changing email made no difference.0

No hassle. Brilliant. Well done FSCS !0

Procedure worked exactly as detailed (instant access account).
Money was credited within a couple of weeks of start of payout procedure.0 -
No hassle. Bit of a wait for the second email. Didn't get funds until late November. Bit of a wait for the certificate too but can't complain - got my money back!0

My wife and I were in Vienna celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary when Icesave went pear-shaped. We actually arrived back home on the 8th October and were shocked when we heard the news...
We have successfully received back all our monies, plus the ISA certificate for myself. We are thankful to:-
a) Alistair Darling, for acting so quickly to guarantee the money, including interest.
b) the FSCS, for rapidly organising an electronic claims system that worked well for the majority of people. Considering that this situation was unprecedented, I believe the FSCS did extremely well.
Between us we had stood to lose nearly £50,000, a not inconsiderable sum at our time of life. So it has been an immense relief to get it all back, even though interest rates are now pretty poor.

I have received my paper application and returned it. But I am not permitted to have the proceeds transferred to my bank a/c. As the sum exceeds £20k, I feel that this is extremely insecure. The money will be sent in the form of a cheque. Who knows when it will eventually arrive - or whether it gets 'lost in the post'MSE_Martin wrote: »If you were/are eligible for Icesave compensation please answer the poll(if any regular options are missing pls suggest them)
What's it about?
In autumn 2008, the Icelandic bank Icesave went into administration, and the UK government agreed to ensure all savers would get their money back (rather than just the £50,000 guaranteed) via a scheme administered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme). See the Safe Savings guide for more.
The vast majority of people should've and did receive their payouts in November (which to be fare to the FSCS was months ahead of when it was obliged to sort it)
What's this poll for?
The aim's to collate information, in order to be able to help those who haven't got their money yet. Using the information provided, I intend to try and speak with the FSCS and try to help ensure its sorted.
The poll isn't to be used for stats purposes, more as a general overview.
What will happen next?
Once the info is collated, we'll get in touch with the FSCS to try and get the latest information and let it know what we're hearing. Over the next few weeks THIS TOP POST will be updated with info.
If you havent got your money back. Please do note it below (without giving away personal details) the amount and what the situation is so far.

Both wife and I got the e-mails on time, logged in and received our cash in the nominated a/c as promised. The ISA certificates arrived a week later and have been processed into new ISAs with no problems.
Well done the FSCS for what must have been a monumental task.
Luckily our accounts were very straightforward but it was a big worry off our shoulders at the time.
Good luck to all who still have the problems!!!Life in the old dog yet?:hello:
(I used to look like this, but it was a long time ago!)0 -
I made application as instructed and received money in my bank account within a week. When I queried ISA status by telephone very polite lady told me my certificate would arrive within 2 weeks, which it did. Well done FSCS. It's a pity the rest of the government run agencies can't be as efficient.0

Needed to vote for the first and last options, but not possible so chose the first. I think the voting shows overwhelmingly that if your circumstances were straightforward then so was the process.
FSCS seem to have fallen down by employing monkeys to answer the phone queries. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Well done FSCS ! A difficult job well done.
They didn't hurry in starting the payouts, as a result the huge majority of claims seem to have been paid out faultlessly.
DVLA, HMRC, TVL, etc, etc ..........take note !0
