  • Lucky you! I phoned online banking this morning who referred me to the 0500 number. When I said that I was ringing up because my £100 was due today and had not been credited the girl was not interested in my bank details and said that she had no way of checking if I was on the list to get £100. All she could say was that they were running 10 days late and I should ring back again next week. I applied on 18 Jan and have the letter dated 19 Jan asking me to take ID into local branch, who then sat on the forms and did not send them off right away, so on my statement it says account opened 27 Jan, although on one of my many calls someone told me that it was OK'd 19 Jan. I have a horrible feeling that Barclays are going to weasel out of this one. They are such a rubbish bank that I closed my account with them last autumn and it took me weeks to get my money out of them - this is their revenge!

I think some people here are getting themselves wound up and creating more problems for Barclays and those of us who are yet to receive our £100 bonus. They are ringing c/s to be told an array of different stories by poorly trained and illinformed staff and then getting themselves even more wound up. Don't get me wrong I'm all for getting back at large organisations like this, but have a little patience will you.

Why are people contacting Barclays when they have not passed the 28 day threshold for receiving their payment ? Fair enough if the time has passed hound them like hell, I certainley will be, but just sit back and let the process fail before you start demanding your money. Ok, some people may have been paid within the 28 days (whether in error or to get the ball rolling through weight of demand who knows), but Barclays haven't broken any T&C's by not paying you yet.

Martin has said he is willing to help resolve problems if they arise, so come on let's just wait for the 28 days to pass and if then, they don't cough up give them HELL :D or threaten them with the small claims court and the bad publicity they'll get from the BBC's WATCHDOG.

    PS. £100 due 07 April 06 - 8 days and counting !!!

I got mine, but with the wife it is a different storey.
We had to show ID in the Worcester branch and they opened the account. We then double checked by letter that they would honour the deal, which was confirmed.
Paid in the 2nd £1000 on 1st March and no £100 for her. I got mine on 23rd March which doesn't stack up with this email received:

Thank you for your email asking us about the recent online offer.

Unfortunately there is a delay in reviewing these accounts, due to high demand.

The #100, for Customers who qualify will start to be paid from Monday 27th March.

The earliest the #100 can be paid, is within 28 days of the 2nd monthly payment of #1000 or more being paid into the new account.

If you have any similar requests, please note that you can complete them by:

    - visiting any branch
    - calling Barclays Telephone Banking (if you are not registered please call 08457 555 555 ), if calling from overseas please dial +44 24 7684 2100
    - placing it in the post - Barclays Bank PLC, Leicester, LE87 2BB.

    - using Online banking at https://ibank.barclays.co.uk

The email address we have contacted you from is used for outbound emails only. Should you need to contact Barclays again please do so by visiting the Contact Us pages on either the Barclays Homepage or Barclays Online Banking site.

    Yours sincerely

I must agree with some of the above. The best way to play this is cross your fingers and hope you get the money in the right time. If you haven't, then's the time to start nagging.... the constant current calls will make it seem more militant and could hurt chances.

£100 appeared in my account today :j

I didn't receive the e-mail that some people did and I hadn't chased or checked if I would be entitled. Hopefully those still waiting will be getting their £100 soon!

I rang them up today as no £100 as appeared in my account and this is what I was told:

As my account was opened on 13/02/05, I need to deposit £1000 before 13/03/06 (have actually deposited £2000 before this date) and another £1000 before 13/04/06.

Are they just playing for time or do I have a reasonable case for compliant?

There's nothing wrong with this statement - it's perfectly true. Your first month ran from 13/2 to 12/3 and your second month ran from 13/3 until 12/4 (inclusive).

They say in their T&C's that they'll pay the incentive 28 days after the second £1,000 hits your account. As such, if your 28 days is up, they should have paid the incentive by now.

EDIT: Just re-read your post. Have you made a deposit since 13/3? If not, I'd suggest you do so on or before 12/4. Your 28 days will then start from the date of this deposit.

If your 28 days since your second deposit of £1,000 haven't elapsed then DON'T phone chasing it up. Show a bit of patience and then if the period does come and go without the cash give them a bell. Phoning up to complain when it's still within the period stated in the original T&C's is just plain daft.
