I've run into a snag, despite applying for the account on the 18th before the offer expired, despite paying in 2 subsequent deposits of 1000 on 13/02 and 13/03, despite sending 2 contact mails asking if I was still entitled to the offer I received this letter from them today:

Sounds like a massive attempt at getting out of it if you ask me!! so I called the 0500 number this morning and got through after being on hold for about 20mins! The guy was a bit useless and asked if it said why I did not get the offer - I said nope. He said could I prove that I applied before the 19th Jan!? I said can you prove that I didn't!? Cheeky blighter! No way to talk to a new customer if you ask me!!

So a complaints procedure has been initiated so we'll see.... Bit annoying really. I've also written a letter to their customer relations department and copied it to their CEO of retail. We'll see what happens. Anything else I could try?
You can prove it, read back through this thread but basically you can either check your cookies or your experian report.

If this is a sticking point, then you can very easily prove conclusively when you applied.

Barclays searched Equifax instantaneously and Experian the next working day for both mine and my wife's account applications - which were both made outside normal banking hours.

So, if pushed, a £2 Equifax report (or a free 30-day trial) should resolve the matter for you.

Good luck (although I suspect you won't need it now! ;)).

Tomorrow the 28 days are up for them to be within there own terms and conditions.I was passing bank 3pm today and took a copy of T&C's in.I told them if I was to go over drawn the first thing they would do is refer me to the T&C's and tell me to my manage my account according to them.I pointed out to them that they will be breaking there own T&C's if the money is not in my account before 12 midnight today. That I do not care how busy they are because of the offer , that is not my problem.Recieved a phone call within the hour saying the £100 is now in my account , and so it is .
I suggest you all point to the T&C's as they would soon point them out to you.

    Hi folks.

Glad to see some people are getting the £100. Hopefully more will soon. My plan is to stay out of it for another week or two and see if people solve any issues themselves. After that to come back in and see where we are and if i can help

(there's no point in me getting involved now, its best to leave it as last resort solution)

Woo-hoo! £100 credit into my account this afternoon! Wasn't there this morning and after catching up with messages since my last post I was thinking of calling them to get an ETA. Logged into the online account to get my a/c number (not at home just now) and the £100 was sitting in the account :D Needless to say it's now being transferred out in preparation for account closure ;)

In all fairness to Barclays the whole process has been hitch-free from my point of view and they credited the money in under 28 days - still doesn't mean I'll be keeping the account!

Thanks again Martin for the tip!

    Alan

PS Been watching your TV prog in ITV2 - missed it the first time round and really quite enjoyable! (esp. your shock when discovering the folks last week had £80k in savings and still had a £80k mortgage!)

Emailed customer services this morning got this reply back!!

    Thank you for your email

Unfortunately there is a delay in reviewing these accounts, due to high demand.

The #100, for Customers who qualify will start to be paid from Monday 27th March.

The earliest the #100 can be paid, is within 28 days of the 2nd monthly payment of #1000 or more being paid into the new account.

I emailed re my non payment last night and received a reply saying they couldn't deal with query via email, but to phone.

Have just spoken to customer services who initiated a complaint for me. Person I was speaking to tried to put down that I opened account of 26 January, which I objected to, saying that I had opened it online before offer closed on 18th.

Now have 48 hr wait for "complaint" to be looked into.

Also asked about the missing £1000 from my online account statement so hopefully that will be cleared up as well.

Slippery than an eel these Barclays people. Opened my account on 18/01, deposited £1000 on 06/02 and another on 09/03. As people were reporting receiving the bonus within the 28 day period I telephoned customer services yesterday to enquire about my £100 bonus. Initially the call taker claimed ignorance and I had to explain how I had opened the account via a link. At first she could not bring my details onto her screen and then informed me that I had opened my account after the offer had been withdrawn. However having pointed out that I had my Equifax credit report in front of me showing an authentication search by Barclays on 18/01/03 she then accepted that I had opened within the time scale. She then stated that I had not deposited the required amounts of money and I had to advise her that I had two statements in front of me showing other wise. I was then put on hold for 9 minutes and then told that she had managed to bring my details onto her screen and that she was able to confirm that I would be receiving my bonus within 28 days of the last deposit.............I logged into my account today and hey ho I have received the £100 bonus.
