Well, got my forms through the post today. I can open the account and transfer the money but I have a nasty feeling that the £100 won't appear.........

There is a copy of the T&Cs though posted on this thread somewhere and if they go back on the deal then you can complain about it.

fannyadams, I doubt very much you got turned down because of the information the CRAs hold about you, or because of your 'tarting' (which appears VERY tame compared with mine). Much more likely that you just didn't appeal to Barclays as a customer they could make lots of money from. Bizarrely, this could be because you have a good CRA record and only a few searches.

Having said this, though, it's not a bad idea to double-check what your credit records say - and it is a must if you want to start stoozing.

BTW, you can get paid £5 for requesting the data from Experian if you subscribe for the trial via TopCashBack (TCB) or Quidco. Though you need to clock up £25 before either of them pay you. This is easy to do on TCB if you need home or car insurance ;)

Don't forget to cancel the trial. TCB also give a cashback for CheckMyFile but I would recommend against using CheckMyFile because you can't actually see your Experian data via them, regardless of what CheckMyFile make you believe.

Took ID to branch today, my letter was dated the 18th, first thing they said was offer closed on 20th so too late to qualify. Yawn!, not relevant as I applied before the offer closed.

It appears that if you recieved a letter to take ID to branch and a filled in form (copy of application) your application has been processed and your account is opened (status 1 on their system or something), waiting for ID verification.

They take copy of ID and sample signature, and enter details into their screen, as per post 282 by crashrescue

No need to fill in any new forms.

They also confirmed the account qualified for the £100 offer.

Hi - I have had a different reply altogether from Barclarys. I received my letter today - no request to go to a branch. I rang the helpline number and she hasked what type of letter I had received, and made me read it out. As it happened, I had the "right" letter in order to qualify for the £100 offer. She said that if I had received the letter asking for more ID and to go into the branch, I would not have qualified for the £100.
Hmmmmm, my partner applied for the Barclays account 2 minutes after me and we were a day before they closed the loophole. However, despite already holding a Barclaycard Visa, he has had the letter today asking him to go into the Branch with more ID. Hence I take it, he does not qualify for the £100 !"!

I think barclays have been EXTREMELY sneaky about this.........

Seem to be well on the way to opening this a/c. Have reached the postal signature and e-mail confirming opened a/c. But all mention of the £100 offer has dissappeared!! It remains only in my memory of their web page some time back! Has anyone got this down in writing somewhere??

Thanks, hope this is a goer!!

  • Yes, I got the sign and return letter, rather than go to branch. So I phones up re offer and was asked what type of letter had i got. CS confirmed i had the right letter to qualify. Was told Branch ID request letters do not qualify for £100.

I got the same signature confirmation and sign aplication forms yesterday as well. There was also a terms and conditions leaflet that mentions about 10 different types of savings accounts - no mention of a current account.

Did anyone else get the wrong T's and C's booklet?
