    Hi,
I am reading this thread and have got confused. Surely if you are new customers then everyone must prove their ID so how do you do that if you don't go to the branch. Have the people who have the sign and return letter got to send proof of ID in the post?

Reason I am asking is that due to Money Laundering regs I would have thought all new customers need to go in.

    Please advise.

Gordon D , I got the same booklet as you, hadnt noticed till read your post it doesnt mention current account, although it does say "personal overdraft terms and conditions" near the top on cover. They prob ran out of booklets that say current account......cant think how that could a happened :)

FL . On aplication there was a few questions at end taken from credit records. They were tricky enough to answer genuinely, luckily must of got them right, so definitley prooved id.
Nope.... Still cant think of owt interesting to put here.
  • perhaps i did not have to give ID was as I have a Barclaycard, which does not count against qualification?

he has had the letter today asking him to go into the Branch with more ID. Hence I take it, he does not qualify for the £100 !"!

I think barclays have been EXTREMELY sneaky about this.........

Depends on how persistent you want to be holding Barclays to the original terms and conditions. Barclays requesting you take ID to branch itself does not disqualify you, why would it?

You fully completed the online application form, they responded to it. The application has been processed. Just do as the letter requests. This is all inline with the original terms and conditions - therefore you're entitled to the £100 offer.

If you take ID to branch you'll probably find the account is open waiting for ID verification.

Barclays are just hoping you don't bother to do this.

It's not that as I haven't got a Barclaycard and didn't have to provide ID, but my girlfriend, who has got a Barclaycard, did.

Yes, I got the sign and return letter, rather than go to branch. So I phones up re offer and was asked what type of letter had i got. CS confirmed i had the right letter to qualify. Was told Branch ID request letters do not qualify for £100.

It really is outrageous that people are being told this. I'm sure Martin will badger Barclays for an official statement at some point. If not, I will :)

My husband and I both put in for an application and have both had postal application forms sent for signature, but he has yet to check his mail for his e-mail acceptance and a/c no.

    o - and apology accepted!

so hopefully we should be able to pass £1000 between us - perhaps this is too obvious, we'll pass £1000 around anyway and hopefully - DOUBLE BUBBLE!!! :j

    Hi, MrsM here again

My husband and I (I sound like the queen!) both completed applications, and neither one of us has had to provide anything in the way if ID, bit wierd like you say. My application is almost complete now.

I am just concerned that all mention of £100 has vapourised!! wish I'd printed out a copy of their home page whilst they were advertising it.

    MrsM

Hi folks, just to let you know I am following this.

The salient facts are simple. If you applied in time while the £100 offer was there, and you make the terms and conditions that were available at that point you should get the £100. Of course this is dependent on account acceptance.

Obviously Barclays was swamped by this (hoorah) so it is going to take it time to go through it. However hopefully that will happen. Keep fighting (politely) your corner, and if no joy starts to be common, I will take it up with barclays

For anybody who can not remember exactly when they applied try searching for the cookie that Barclays would have placed on your computer.
I've just checked and found a cookie called *****@www.barclaysbankaccountapply.co.txt (where ***** is your name) with the date and time listed.
It is unlikely that Braclays would accept it as proof but it might be a bit of extra information in the battle.

P.S. I have received the 10 day email but nothing yet in the post.

I am confident that I entered all the correct Experian questions, so it will be interesting to see if I get asked to bring ID to a branch.

It would be a good idea if Martin could speak with a high ranking member of Barclays to get some clarity on the situation, although knowing Martin he is probably already on the case or is planning his approach.

    Hi dguppy

just to let you know I received "10 day" email on 24th , applied on 18th and received the following yesterday (28th) .............
