Do you have any info in the terms and conditions saying you will get the £100 after 2 months, or are you just going to see what happens?0 -

(If everything's this chaotic [as everyone's indicating] n o w , then it doesn't augur too well for them being able to sort out the 100 quid bribes does it..?)
In fact, self & wife both applied separately immediately one-after-the-other with the same e-mail contact details. Yesterday ONE e-mail was received with the '10-day' twaddle and this morning wife has received the letter with forms to sign & send back. It'll be interesting to see if self receives 'the letter' tomorrow [or within 10 days]. And this seems to disprove someone [I forget who - sorry] 's theory that a substantial salary & a longstanding other current account works the oracle.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0 -
Just to say i got mine and having only just returned to minimal part time work since the birth of our child 3 years ago I only have gross annual salary of 3k so it can't be that salary linked. I do have other longish standing current a/c tho!MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0

Got my account number and sort code through the post today.
They never asked for ID, just a signature.

Hi all

Hope to find more "offers" such as this one0 -
Im getting a little concerned concerned now, as I havent even received the 10 day email yet! Called the 0500 number last night and he says he has no record of my application. He asked me what the screen said when I applied , and I told him it said " Thankyou for your applicaton. We will process your application and you should hear from us within 4 days". He went on to ask if it was the £100 offer and I said yes, he says tehy have been inundated and the system is backed up. Ill just have to carry on waiting.............0

Just received an email from Barclays saying my application for their new current account will take longer to process than anticipated due to unexpected demand. Looks like your email worked. Thanks :T0

On the topic of how Barclays decided to offer this account to (as it didn't seem to matter when your application was made, i.e. not first come first served), could it be more to do with how long people have maintained previous accounts? Just another theory as to how the 'oracle' works. But it could be useful for future 'carpet bagging' attempts.
Btw, I called the 0500 number last night to insist on having written literature confiming the £100 incentive and was 're-assured' that this would all be forthcoming once the account was properly activated.0 -
Martin,
You might like to know that I am very reliably informed that the banks combine to keep lists of certain people who, quite legitimately, profit from these offers. Such as all those who have posted on this thread. Apparently they share this information and are able to refuse future offers to these people. Not quite sure how this is done, but you get the picture.
Now, I just wonder if their action is legal ? Sounds like a conspiracy against perfectly legitimate actions, alternatively, the offers they make are not quite what they seem.
I got onto this a while ago and did very nicely indeed out of the ill-fated Zurich bank, thank you.

Hi everyone
I applied on Wednesday early evening (as soon as I had got Martin's weekly email) for an account for myself and one for my OH.
My OH got her letter Saturday which contained the printout of all the details entered and asked her to take it and ID proof to any branch. She did this yesterday, but the branch staff seemed clueless but she now does have an account number and sort code and will enable online access tonight. The branch retained the letter and printout (ought to have copied it didn't I) and gave her what appears to be a standard Barclays Welcome letter - no mention of the £100!
On Monday, she then received the email about how busy Barclays were with the offer and that her application might be delayed for some time!!
I have not yet had any paperwork arrive as yet ( perhaps more details to check on my Credit references?) but got my "delay" email yesterday.
I will be chasing Barclays very soon.....
Will keep you all informed on the progress. :money:
