Got the delaying letter and the next day the forms to be signed
So looks like I am in
I wish my normal hourly rate was so high0 -
No it's not - I'm about to go out and post my signed application and the address is as follows:
Barclays Bank Plc (INTERNET)
Online Processing Team
Customs House
PO Box 1338
Brierly Hill
DY5 1WF
Good luck with the £100 all!!!
:-)0 -
No the pre-pay address is for Brierly Hill in the midlands.0

I had an e-mail saying that my application was still being processed and would take a few days due to exceptional demand - or words to that effect.
It'll be interesting to see the T&C when the application form eventually turns up. No £100 offer - no customer as far as I'm concerned.0 -

Ok, that makes sense because the postcode is for Dudley and the specimen signature form has 'Dudley Centre' stamped on it. Thanks!0 -
Food for thought.
On the basis that we seem to have a selection of people that have made the online application on various days last week, being either sent to their local branch (non-eligable for £100?) or having a form to sign and reply in a provided envelope. I wonder how important the application questions were.....
Do you think a substantial salary and long standing current account with a competitor would swing the decision in your favour?0 -

i like the idea of sending the letter aswell, lol
Joke,

Well, I've now posted my forms back and did indeed include a brief covering letter but I'm reluctant to divulge exactly what I wrote. I fear Barclays may smell a rat if they receive a sackful of very similarly worded letters from MSE applicants!
However, there's nothing to lose by writing them a short letter and including it in your application. I was tempted to put at the end of my letter 'I look forward to becoming a loyal Barclays customer' but couldn't quite bring myself to do it0 -
How do I know if I was in time to get the £100? My application went through at 19.05 on 18.1.2005 and I signed the speciman signature and got the account number at my local branch yesterday.0

Hi, i was quite peeved today.I have always had the problem that i was registered at birth as my first name, but have always been called my second forename. So when i went to produce my I.D i explained this. The woman said it should'nt be a problem, but changed the names round on the screen as per my passport e.g passport says 'Rita Mary', but i always apply for stuff as Mary Rita.I was a bit concerned as i was checked on the electoral roll and credit scored under Mary (and have been given 3 barclay funded cards too under Mary)She droned on, asking me my kids details and allsorts for nearly 40 mins-before checking and being told i must get my details changed as they cannot except an application with the names those ways round(as on my natwest statement, which i took for I.D it had Mary Rita) Now what really annoyed me, is i asked this at the begining-would it be a problem, she tried to get me to take every product under the sun-and bought out a joining pack for me-i asked is this still classed as an on-line application-she was clueless! When she told me to get Nat west to reissue me a statement with my initials the right way round, i said i doubt they will do this, as it's not the way i use my names. She had the cheek to say 'well barclays will never open an account if the I.D dosen't match! But they will happily 'lend' money if the I.D dose'nt match?
As i said it's more the fact they wasted my time as i raised this before she switched on the computer!I don't know if it's worth raising this with barclays-as i showed exactly the same I.D to get a barclay card at the airport 2 years back. They were offering free cameras as i was about to go and buy a couple from boots,so i applied and got them free:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
Today I received a cheque book and a letter stating my account has been opened with the account number and sort code. I have transferred £1000!0
