I have also just received that e-mail.
But last week I received a letter asking me to take ID into the branch - which I have already done. The letter I received was dated 17th Jan which was before they pulled the plug on the offer. They said they could not identify me and they needed to see my ID to prevent money laundering. Suprising that as I am registered at barclays as a trustee for my sons account.0 -
Hi all,
I applied last Wednesday, got the confirmation letter on the Friday, went to the branch and opened the account yesterday, recieved an email today telling me it might take 10 days to confirm
I have just come off the phone with a Barclays advisor who at first tried to discourage me and then tell me I was too late applying, but then she went off the phone to talk to someone else and came back telling me that if I applied while the offer was still on, then I SHOULD get the cash.
Seems to me that they are trying to get out of it.
She also told me thousands have applied.0 -
i applied the night before this offer officially ended.
today, i recieved an application form in the post which i have to take to my local barclays bank to show them the necessary proof to get the account opened.
i read the terms and conditions and all of the information i recieved, but there was no sign of redeeming the £100 cash in writing. i remember natwest did this ages ago, and they did mention the incentive in the letters i got.
anybody else find that there is no mention of the cash incentive on the letters they got in the post?

There was no mention on the letters that came through the post. In fact the advisor at my local branch didn't know much about it.0

Likewise, I received this '10 day' email today.0

Everyone seems convinced that Barclays are going to try to get out of paying the money, but I'm not aware that we've seen any real evidence of this?.0

I agree with Dan29
Applied Wed evening and also just received e-mail saying now 10 days to hear, but with the number of applications they have received, not surprising they can't cope with the avalanche.
I suspect they will probably refuse applications where there is any doubt about credit rating but surely it is worth waiting a few days longer if you can make such an easy £100!0 -
Indeed. So far, what have we got to lose? At least we have confirmation our application has been received.0
