baby scan rip off digusting if you ask me

I can't believe they will get a bigger house on the basis of a scan. No scan is going to state it is accurate - can you imagine the potential fall-out if they did?
I'd have said the army would want to know it had been born safely before giving away a four bedroom house too.
This is something they want to know, not something they need to know, and therefore it is perfectly ok to charge for the service imo.
Btw, if she is coping on her own after the birth, I'd have said the baby will be better off in your sil's room as this will be less dirsuption for mum and other children.
No problem whatsoever with two young children sharing a room, even if they are boy and girl. They don't need to move house for at least a couple of years, if at all.
The NHS has to draw a line somewhere.
Glad you are paying for them though, as I wanted to know with my third and it seems they do too.0 -
I'd be extremely wary of relying on an ordinary sexing scan anyway. My hosp got my first child wrong (we'd bought everything neutral anyway 'just in case' but we still had a 'shock'!) Also, an old work colleague of mine already had a boy and his wife was desperate for a girl. They had a scan with their consultant who was adamant they were having a girl - cue lots of pink buying and decorating - of course the baby was a boy, and the wife really struggled to bond with him for a while.
Sonographers get the gender wrong more often then you'd think, and none of them will ever give you a 100% answer unless they are looking for a lawsuit. IMO, £50 is a lot to spend on an uncertain result.0 -
which hospital is it? (i notice you are in wolves too).....i went to new cross, they offered to tell us the sex no charge (but i wanted a suprise).
keely.Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -
There is no need to find out the sex of the baby as you can prepare for it without knowing. Also finding out the sex of the baby would ruin the surprise at the birth.0

when i was pregnant, my maternity ward charged £3 per scan pic and a sexing scan was £100 as it was done as a private case and the money went to SCBU. the trust now offers free sexing scans at the second scan. i found out i was having a girl after having an amnio done...ouch!0

I am always right when I predict!! (Well I keep quiet when I'm not!!) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes it is over 140 for a girl and it was right for me first time and I think, assuming the sonographer was right this time then this old wives tale really works!MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
If its not medically essential to know...sorry but I think its a really nice way to raise funds for the hospital. I assume the money is going back to baby care? If you really must know - put your money etc etc....problem solved.
& be jolly happy the family have a healthy baby.....0 -

I found out with my 4th child. I asked at the NHS scan and I was told she thought it was a girl. I think it's the best they say because they state they have 95% accuracy. I paid for a 4D scan and was told it was definitely a girl. I don't think the NHS should waste time telling people.
In reality the baby should for safety reasons be in the same room as its parents for 6 months. After that the children can share for several years which gives loads of time before the move has to be made. I would say opposite gender children can share until the eldest is at least 9.0 -
There is no reson to know the babys sex for housing either! It can share with its parents for quite a few months,or one of the other children, and it definately wouldnt be good moving house in the later stages of pregnancy!
My sister didnt find out the sex of her baby - didnt want to ruin the surprise, and she had a beautiful baby boy on the 27th:D0
