  • Hi ragstoricheswannabe

    I've been reading your diary and think you're doing really well, and that trying to be more positive can only help matters (easier said than done, i know!)

    I was interested in your post that said you founf cheaper teething powders for your son - my baby has started teething and I don't know what to do (complete newbie at this baby malarky!), what teething powder do you use and where do you get it? Sorry to be cheeky asking, but I'm really clueless :o

    Thanks

  • Our nearest tesco is 30 mins away in the car so the savings would get lost in the amount of fuel it would take to get there......................big shame as they have good offers on at times. (ok, now wondering bout tesco online......)
    Ds2 is getting better, thanks for asking. He has eaten really well at breakfast and it has stayed down and his nose isnt as bunged up. Sounds like he has a bit of a sore throat now bless him.

  • Hello!!!!!
    well have been busy again today in little short spurts (ds2 still not well)
    i have:
    • put in the requests to send the faster payments to egg to bring them both up to £50
    • sorted out the standing order so £50 will go to the xmas fund straight after my payday
    • worked out how to attach files on an email
    • emailed some documents to take a break (after talking to some nice people on here that have done the same and say its legit) thanks to above!!
    • emailed egg to see if my fella is on the 0% balance transfer deal as statement not clear, still waiting for reply
    • listed another 10 items on ebay (turbo lister is fab and so much faster than doing it using ebay itself, if that makes sense)
    Have got ds2 tomorrow as not well and dont want to leave him so not able to do as much as i had planned, but will sort the rest of the stuff to ebay out and try and get as many photo's taken whilst he is asleep.
    Ds2's mattress arrived today so really need to get the stuff sorted and shifted as will be moving in there soon, if not at the weekend then will be after wed as not working till the following wed so plenty of time for him to settle in.

    Have had to put him on the soya milk as still having really bad "loose stools" and really bad tummy pains with it. will keep him on that for a week and see how he goes. My mates little one had it when we visited on sat and thats what she had to do too, although talking to people at school today, it seems just the littlies are getting it?!! strange.

    Have got a christening on sunday that i had completly forgot about, not doing the whole pressie thing though as they are the sort of people that have everything, and there is only so many silver items around to buy......................stingy but hey, we're skint and they are loaded, nuff said!

    Not sure how i will increase my income once all my ebay stuff is sold.................ummm may have to get my thinking cap on.....................

    This is how mad i am right now, so mad in fact i am sat here in tears!!!
    just rung the tax credit people to update ds2 going to the childminders and been informed that we are going to get no help towards paying for childcare "because you and your partner earn too much"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    this offically means i cant afford to either stay at home and not work, nor go out to work!!!!!!!!! how f**ked up is this country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    have rang work but not much they can do as set days will be hard and finding me extra hours will be hard as they have taken on more staff thinking me and another nurse were coming back part time.

    really dont know what to do..................................................................
    up sh*t creek without a paddle springs to mind.............................

  • Hi Rags

    Thanks for the PM - off to town in a bit on the hunt for your teething remedies!

    My boy is 15 weeks old, he's me and DH's pride and joy :D

    It must be really hard having any more than one child though, how on earth do you manage kids, work, debt busting?!?!?!

    I'm with you on tax credits being messed up too. Me and DH not entitled to help wth childcare cos he doesn't work 16+ taxable hours a week (he works 5 hours lecturuing and 37 hours doing a PhD - the 37 not taxed he gets a bursary). As you say, it makes you wonder why we bother slugging away at work, and in DH's case at Uni trying to better himself and secure our familes future.... I'll be ranting with you now! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

    Is there some sort of appeals process you could go down? It may be worth visiting the benefits board (although not all the guys over there are as friendly and non judgemental as the DFW lot)

    Big hugs to you and hope you can get something sorted xxx

  • Right, now the tears have stopped i have actually made progress!
    Rang my childminder (who is a diamond) and she went on the internet and found that i was intitled to more than the stupid bloke on the phone said!!!! So i rang the tax credit people up and got a lovely lady this time who worked out that no i am not intitled to the childcare element, BUT will recieve about £250 (prob a little more this year due to low income this tax year) a month!!! its not a lot but with a few cut backs in the soa it is doable!!!!! tight, but doable. Just means not being able to pay the debts off like i had hoped, The payments budgeted for come to £311, so need to find another £20 or so to keep meeting my target for the £4k this year.

    So will be clicking like mad, daily scratchcards and ebaying everything!!!!!!

    this is what i hope my soa will look like once we are sorted:
    Monthly Income: Total: approx £3041.98
    My wage: approx £1100???

    Oh wage: £1568.80
    Child benifit: £125
    Tax credits: Approx £250?????

    Monthly Outgoings: total: approx £2962.52
    Personal loan = £161.00
    Joint Life Ins = £22.33
    Sky/broadband = £32.00
    House phone = £15.00
    Council tax =£116?
    Water =£33.07
    Dentist =£16.50
    TV License =£11.61
    Mortgage =£865.01
    Gas & Elec =£50

    Mobiles *3 = £120
    Childcare = £810
    Food =£200.00
    Kids savings =£10
    My savings =£50.00 (pays for car tax, ins etc & emergancies)
    Petrol =£250??
    Xmas saving = £50.00
    Pay back mil = £50
    Egg 1 = £50
    Egg 2 = £50

    which leaves £79.46 a month spare. said it was tight. Going to ring home phone people and get them to do the lowest package which is about £11 a month so a slight saving.............. also hoping petrol wont be that a month!!!! this will only be for 8-9 months as wont have to pay such a hefty childcare bill when he starts school!!!!
