If all Moneysavers got together and boycotted Tesco, it would send a message, albeit not a big one, but they'd still realise that there are some clever people out there who won't be ripped off like this
    That, is an excellent question...

If you read the packaging carefully, you will see that the number of washes has remained exactly the same.
Over the past 6 years, manufacturers have consistently reduced the amount of detergent required per wash (and altered dosage amount at the same time) in an attempt to improve the effect on the environment through:
    1. Smaller packaging
    2. Smaller amount of detergent needed/less waste
So you are better off as you are carrying less powder home and so have less chance of hurting your back!
Its a good thing (as long as you use the updated dosage)

I use the tablets but haven't noticed whether the pack size has changed or not. I'm sure it probably has, although I'm not paying any less. The box still says to use two tablets per wash and they are still packaged in twos inside the box.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

No one is arguing with the reduced packaging, less chemicals etc it's purely on value for money.

I don't keep my boxes as I transfer them plastic boxes so I can't verify how much powder it now says to use now and how much it used to say but if Tesco's (and other powder manufacturers if applicable) have on their packaging the numbers of washes per box in very large numbers on the front of each box have they messed up their maths. That's not what they told me in an email. The boxes now say 10 was 15 and 30 was 45 for 1kg & 3kg boxes respectively. How could Tesco get it so wrong?

I bought a box of Rakusens matzo biscuits recently at Tesco and when I opened the box I found that the box was about 25% bigger than the internal biscuit container. I took it back and complained but have heard nothing since. Customer Service in store was very helpful and took a note.
I have also complained about the fluctuating price of their Honey Nut Cornflakes (I know I shouldn't be eating them) but one day they are £1.59 and the next £1.89 or £1.79. I contacted Customer Service (what's that???) and received a completely useless reply but I'll keep trying.

hi this is my first post but have been money saver for a few years, im disgusted with tescos at moment but its the nearest supermarket to me. otherwise i would go somewhere else. they've increased the price of their de-caff t bags by 40p and washing powder decrease in volume is annoying.

I use tablets too, I buy as much as I can get when on promotion, I only use 1 tablet per wash and the clothes are just as clean.

I have to stick to a detergent that doesn't irritate my DS's sensitive skin, he has excema, Ariel (sp?) is the one I use, his housemate washed some of his clothes & bedding in Persil and he came out in a rash that was really itchy till he realised why and changed his bedding.

I've emailed Tesco and got this reply:

    Thank you for your email.

Most washing powders are sold by weight of product. i.e. 500 g, 1 kg etc. A lot
of these previous packets were only partially filled or actually settled to
leave a large air gap in packaging.

Washing powder have been developed over the years, to contain better
concentration of powder within the packet. Hence allowing us to use smaller
packaging. The weight of the product will still be the same as when original
    packaging was bought.

I hope this has answered your enquiry.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at
    customer.service@tesco.co.uk
    That, is an excellent question...

Well that makes no sense at all. If they were supposed to do 45 washes before and now are doing 30 washes that has nothing to do with the complaint at all and they know it
    Thanx

I found too boxes of Daz in Iceland today, one old box (says 15 washes)and one new (10 washes). The old box if I remember rightly said use 175ml of powder per wash and the new box 155ml per wash. Both were for normal soiling with medium water. Old box weight 1.1kg, new box .95kg. Cost the same £2.

I couldn't convert ml to kg but I did calculate that the amount needed per wash (as per the boxes) is now 11% less. The total volume of the box has however decreased by 13.4%. To complicate matters in my quest for converting ml to kg I found a couple of old measuring cups from Lever (I have had these cups a good few years) and they say use 155ml normal soiling, medium water. The 175ml is for hard water.
