    Currys say:
    1) Go to a PC World and get them to find a Currys store which has them in stock (this will show on their computer system).
    2) Get them to ring the store and ask for a 'GA'. (Not sure what this stands for but it means the stock gets transferred from Currys to PC World)
    3) Pay for camera at PC World at £169
    4) Pick up camera at Currys store.

I know it sounds complicated but the SA will know what you are talking about. You will probably get all sorts of excuses as to why they can't do it but persist, nicely, and you might get somewhere. This method has worked 5 times so far for 5 friends.

Thanks for this advice!! Have just paid for the item at my local PC World. Will collect from Currys later today...great find.

    I may try this.

Have they removed it off the site now?

Seems to have been taken off the Currys site, but some stores will have stock. If there is a PC World local to you, then no harm in getting them to check stock levels for you at a Currys within a few miles radius. If one has, then bingo! GA time..

Got mine yesterday after much hunting around, but most definetly worth it. Superb kit, staggering quality for the money, plus I had just had a bonus from work- superb timing.

Yes I thik it was removed from the site at 'sold out'. However, they still have them in some stores, you just have to check.
  • Can't find this on the PCWORLD website at the mentioned price. Has it been pulled?

Just bought one today. Paid £169 for it in PC World, Newcastle (Kingston Park) and collected it from Currys in Carlisle. Bit of a drive but worth it!

There were two more available in Currys in Carlise this afternoon at 5pm and also one available at PC World, Barrow in Furness if anyone lives near there!

I now have one very happy husband with an early birthday present!

Same for me, after visiting 2 PC world the second store agreed and tried a GA (stock transfer) me. After 20mins in the store they got hold of a brand new one from a currys store about 20miles away. Picked it up, now waiting for the CF card now!

thanks to Bumbles2 for the advise!

This might help anyone who's bought this camera and does'nt have any CF (or XD memory) - but has SD memory....

I bought an adaptor from Maplin takes SD (and HDSD) cards (which you insert into a CF carrier) and converts to CF II - £19.99

I've been using it with my new Olympus at it works well !!
