Does this camera (E-410e) take the SDHC cards?

What part of that do you NOT GET, STAR1? "Does this camera ...take the SDHC cards?" To which the answer is.....NO! As standard, it takes the XD/CF cards, which is what the person was asking, is it not? They did not say "Can I wedge a prawn sandwich in here to take photos?" or "Can I convert my Babbage mark III computer to use?". The question was as stated above, and the correct answer is no, unless you want to get such and such. I tried to be helpful, you are being pedantic.:doh:0 -
tbird - there's no need to be rude, please note the forum rules about how to treat other members .... !!
It's worth noting this forum is about helping others to save money (the hint, is in the name), it's a fact that SD memory is cheaper than XD and CF memory, if someone has an investment in SD memory the suggestion of using a convertor is a valid and helpful suggestion and is likely to help save money as well as being just as easy to use.
I'm sure your outburst .... will have left many perplexed .... hope you take a moment and re-read the postings and understand the sentiment in which they are written .... you might feel an acknowledgement / apology is in order !!

Read the posts again, Star1. Does it take so-and-so cards? No. You may have spent a lot of money on SDHC cards, or whatever, but, and this is a biggie- it does not take SD/SDHC cards as standard. You have to go and find other bits to make it work. Now, I'm usually polite, but I answered the members question in the proper way-and did not go OT to try and make a point that x format is better than y format, or whatever. Thank you. And as for the sarcastic comment about "the hint is in the name"- now who is being rude? CF is as cheap, if not cheaper than SD- and most SD sold is of the "lower" end of the memory bracket, ie not that fast.
And learn how to use grammar, please. And no, I do not feel that an acknowledgement/apology is in order- I answered the question that was put, you have got up on your high horse to prove a point that you, and only you, are right. We are both right. You can fiddle around to bodge an SDHC card in, but, yet again, the point is as I stressed above- A vanilla version of this camera will NOT take an SD card, whether or not its HC or not.
End of conversation on this score, I hope that the person who originally asked has got the answer they needed.0 -
So I bought a 4GB Compact Flash card.
How come when I insert it, a message says 'CF Error'. When I go to format it via the camera, it gives same message. Whats going on here?

I had the same problem with the first E410 I tried, with XD or CF memory it produced an error, would'nt format etc. I had to take it back and get it changed - new one worked without issue.
Before you consider this route .... does this do this [CF error] on all memory? have you tried formating the card with an external reader/writer?
Best of luck0 -
tbird - looks like we will "agreed to disagree" ....
Correct - the camera does not in its basic form use SD/SDHC memory .... but "Does this camera (E-410e) take the SDHC cards? [origional question] the correct answer is "yes" .... my post went on to explain using this [proper manufactured solution] can be purchased from Maplin [a reputable retailer] .... not such a "bodge" as you suggest ? ....
For anyone who's considering this option/product http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48016 (exactly the same principal as using a convertor for Mini-SD, Micro-SD, or Memory Stick etc)0 -
I'm sure your outburst .... will have left many perplexed ....
It sure did. What's your problem tbird? I found Star1's input very useful, as I too have considerable investment in SD cards. I may not buy the adapter Star1 has recommended, but it has certainly spurred me to look for something a tad cheaper. It is a "money saving" forum after all!
Thanks Star1. Useful tips are always welcome......unprovoked rudeness isn't!Cut price signatures.

Thanks for the replies. XD works fine. CF card not able to be formatted on camera or PC. still getting 'CF card error' when inserted into camera.

IMHO - from what you've mention, I think the CF card might be your problem, to rule it out, you might want to try the following :-
(a) try another (known working) CF card in your camera
(b) try the CF card in a card reader and see if it reads/writes to it .... (although the issue with formatting in your PC - seams to suggest the card is at fault).
Good Luck0 -
