I got one via PCW thanet from Currys next door! :j The VERY nice man in PCW actually went through (he didnt believe it was a different price!) to the Currys shop and organised the gathering of box and stuff brought it back through to me and said he was amazed at the difference in price!
It was ex display but I am SOOO not complaining thanks so much to the OP - all I have to do is get the card - Anyone got suggestions?
AFAIK there is one in each of Canterbury and Ashford Currys hope that helps someone.0 -
Grr woman in my local PC World.
I went in, spotted none, asked if they could check computers.. they said there's 2 in a Currys Digital store about 20 miles away.
I said can you do stock transfer? She said no, can't do it.
Surely they can?
Well, I know they can.. you've all had them do it!
Any advice?
If I can give advice to anyone trying to get one, DO NOT ASK FOR A STOCK TRANSFER
You need to go in with confidence knowing exactly what you need to say, or they won't do it.
I went into my local branch of PC World and asked straight away for the MANAGER
I then explained I was trying to get an Olympus E410 which is part of their sale and gave him the product number (its listed at the start of the forum)
I said I had been on the phone from customer handling and they had told me to go to my local branch and speak to the manager who would then be able to get a GA from a Currys store in the area.
Thats is all you need to say - as soon as they hear Customer Handling and GA they know you know what you are talking about
He got straight on the computer and was straight on the phone to a Currys in the area and job done.
I hope this helps :T0 -
I'll ring up store once more and try tomorrow.
If not, I will forget about it.
Don't need it, anyway!0 -
Ridiculous you have to do all this subterfuge and social engineering though isn't it! You'd think their approach would be "Aha, a customer. With money. Let's do what he wants so we can sell him our stuff." Instead sounds like it's up to you to finesse their stock transfer systems and they really couldn't care less if you buy their camera. Perhaps all the retailer doom and gloom stories in the press are bogus.I ♥ MSE0

How are you guys calling directly through to the stores?0

I can't help but wonder how many of the e410's deals available on Ebay are by people spotting this post, and having made the saving by buying the scarce stock, have caused more of a shortage for other folks who genuinely wanted the camera.0

I don't think I will bother chasing this camera any more though. Too much hassle. Been in store to speak to them, had girl looking on computer, asked her to GA one in, rang up another store, searched their computers, rang another store after I was told they had one, been promised 2 phone calls back to confirm they have it in stock there - not received one call back. I probably should have insisted they search there and then whilst I was on the phone, but the woman seemed pretty professional speaking to me and quite genuine, so had no reason to believe she was just leading me on.
Good luck in the search guys.0 -

I thought this too. But then again, if I had thought of it, and had got hold of the cameras I would have done the same. Wouldn't you at £100 profit a camera?0 -
