Grr woman in my local PC World.

I went in, spotted none, asked if they could check computers.. they said there's 2 in a Currys Digital store about 20 miles away.

I said can you do stock transfer? She said no, can't do it.

Surely they can?

Well, I know they can.. you've all had them do it!

Any advice?

To get a stock transfer - you'll need them to do you a "favour" .... it's hassle for them, but find the right person with the right level of authority - they might be prepared to do it as a favour ....

Secondly - the price match approach (this worked for me), look at the screen as they do a search region-by-region, see where there are units in stock in a PC world branch (by now - these will be display/non-pristine units that are not for resale), and then in the same region where Currys/Dixons have them in (as new, sales stock) - visit the Dixons/Currys (which has stock), say you want a price match (they will check the same system) and if everything works out for you, you'll get the same camera at the PCworld price in the Currys/Dixons store !!

I have had no luck in getting one neither, bloke in pc world reckoned there was none anywhere in the north east (he wasnt gonna break a leg looking for one for me neither)

If you want to try the stock transfer idea/process - I would try to approach staff when the store is less busy - it's hassle for them, and the last thing they want to do is to try phoning other stores at a weekend.

.... might be best on Monday morning ....

Good luck .... (I don't want to rub-it-in - sorry), but the camera is a great peice of kit, and fantastic value (if you can get one).... I'm just off to try some "artistic/outside winter shots"....

Been assured there's one in the Yorkshire area for me...

It's no wonder the Currys - PC world - Dixons Group is in trouble due to the inconsistencies across their branches. I managed to obtain the camera but only after a wasted trip to the Currys Leeds Crown Point store. The staff and manager were an absolute waste of space after I had been given the run around by them even though they intially agreed they would price match PC world. I eventually obtained the camera from the Wakefield Branch of Currys - the staff and Manager there could not have been more helpful. I know which branch I will be using in the future.
It was worthwhile the hassle as the camera is great value for money.

i got the sony a200 instead. 18-70 and 75-300m kit lenses pack. but does not have live view.shame.

I might be onto one today....

fingers crossed. Just been on a charm offensive to a store about 30 miles away.. "operations manager" on the phone there said it's not a definite "no" that they can stock transfer clearance stock..
