I wouldnt want to have any dogs put to sleep. But if the breeds were banned perhaps people that already owned them could have this documented, so they could keep their dog(if it didnt do harm). But stop further breeding of these breeds untill there is very few left.

I'd prefer to see the parents of every litter of any breed both having excellent temperaments, Pups well socialised from Day 1, compulsory obedience & maybe a theory test or something for owners, and maybe stopping the dogs being advertised online/preloved/gumtree/freecycle/papers etc might help I really don't know, as in make it so people find it hard to get dogs & have to go to rescues or decent breeders, probably wouldn't work tho idk.

Also, i'd like to see the police able to confiscate & rehome and ban owners from keeping dogs for life if they see people goading their dogs to attack & such like.
  • I think that dogs like Rottweillers, etc should not be kept as pets. There is too much risk of harm happening with such big, strong dogs. I think banning certain breeds to start with would be a major positive. Then see how things improve.

That is the most ridiculous thing i have heard! how many times does it have to be said "Its not the breed but the deed" responsible owners of dogs small or large have them under control, yes bring back a kind of licencing all RESPONSIBLE ownrs im sure would welcome that, but ban all these dogs - get a grip!

as for the dog in question, as long as it is secure & well cared for the RSPCA will probably do nothing.
  • OP - if you have the courage to come back...

I believe that bailiffs (in the County Court anyway) have a spray for deterring dogs. Do you know any (this sounds a strange thing to say) friendly bailiffs that may put you in the right way? I could be wrong of course. I am sure I heard that some postman have the spray as well, so that may be worth an enquiry - custardy who is a postman posts on MSE, often on the ebay board and he may know. That will at least give you some sort of reassurance.

Is there any milder form of a taser that is legal? Or I suppose you could ask your friendly PC. You see, it may not be you or your little one when the window gives, it may be a delivery man, postman or even an old dear delivering parish magazines. It is not just you that you need to be persistent for. Most of all, you need to be persistent for your little one.

    Good luck.

What I did was suggest that criminals and thick people shouldn't be allowed to own dogs.

How exactly do you define "thick people"?

    Just interested is all.

Just incase any one wonders yea I am a "big" "bad" dog owner. I have an Akita. I have had several. My Akita is good with big dog's small dog's, cat' hamsters and has even never decided to attack my fish. Why do I have an Akita? Because he plays with my Kids. and he is my mate, and I love him. Can Akitas be dangerous... Sheit yea. If you don't care for your Akita right they can be very dangerous. But thats where responsible ownership and breedership come in. I got my Akita from a breeder who would rather give his litter away for free,to vetted people who where home checked then sell it to a "hoodie" (nothing wrong with a hoodie, but you know the stereo type). That is responsible breeding. Also ALL dogs need socializing. Big, medium or small. All dogs need proper socializing. I have been biten by 3 dogs...all little ancle biters. if that would have been a rottie, or pit or Akita those dogs would have been put down, but because it was a cute !!!!!! or jack it is supposed to be OK....
