Mine now seems to go flat overnight, everynight. Any ideas?
Have you checked settings>system>memory>running programs to make sure nothing is left running. Also settings>system>power>advanced and tick 'turn off device if not used for' on 'battery power'. Check that when switched off it's not just the backlight which is off, by holding it close to a light, so you can check if there's any 'unbacklit' display showing.

If it's still flattening it may be a faulty battery, or faulty charging indication, in which case it may be worth leaving it on charge past the greenlight indication. IIRC the manual suggest a long intial charge.

Some badly behaved software (or TSR types) don't quit fully/properly unless a soft reset is used.

You can install this which gives you a Windows XP style shutdown screen ...
    http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/shutdownwindowsxpstyle.shtml

This shuts it down properly - I can never be sure if using the side button turns it off completely or not.

Finally get hold of mine tomorrow (it's me birthday!), any idea how long an initial charge the manual recommends?

    At last Bubba! :j

They recommend charging for 3 days initially before use and no touching it.

HA Ha I'm a liar, it's 24 hours, you can use it in this time but the power supply must not be interrupted.
    Oh and Happy Birthday.

Just use activesync to do a system backup and it restores it EXactly to how it was.. I do it evey time I make changes or experiment with it.

Can anyone explain how to do this please?

Just had to install POI Observer again because it did a flat battery reset. V annoying!

    Whoa, bummer man.

Is there no way you can get it fixed?

If you do you could always sell the cracked screen, it's amazing what people sell/buy on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64371&item=5858767721

Actually having a look on ebay it seems the Mio 168 has a major problem with the recharging connector, judging by all the broken ones for sale. Think I'll have to treat mine with kid gloves when it's finished charging (46 minutes to go:j )

    Cheers,

    Bubba©
