I tried on a W98SE machine but couldn't get Activesync to 'partner' (or whatever they call it), it just churns over without syncing. I'll try updating Activesync 3.80 -
Hi,
Have downloaded and installed POI Observer OK, but have had to change the GPS Setting in Medion Navigator 5 from "Integrated GPS/External TMC" to "Receiver without TMC". The first option worked perfectly prior to POI Observer being installed, after POI Observer installed, just kept getting No GPS Receiver Detected
Also does anyone know what the "NF" box does in the "VirtComMgr" program is for? This is the program where you set up your ports for the input and output of GPS data to the Navigation Program.
VirtComMgr Settings are: Source: Com1/4800 Baud, Virtual Com Port: Com5
Test Raw and Test GPS work perfectly. Medion Navigator set to GPS on Com5 @ 4800 baud, only works when receiver type changed as above???????

Received my High Speed SD card (Corsair 512MB 133x) last night on tried it out with the PDA, 'real-time', this morning.
- Time to calc my standard route previously = 15 mins
- Time to calc route now = 1 min
I figure all the accessing of databases, etc. was getting held up by the supplied card being too slow - possibly faulty!?
Although it seems to work in my laptop and Digi-Cam without any problems.
Still going to phone Medion to
a) try and get a new / better SD card out of them and
b) test out the support with them. I have had no reply to eMail, so will report back on my opinion of their Telelphone Support.-=Mr-J=-0 -
Hi People
As a total virgin to this forum, I have so far found it very useful.
I would like to make a comment after reading pompeysteve's post #44
I too have just purchased the Micromaxx 150 from Kwiksave that came with Medion Navigator 5. As with most items that can have firmware/software updates I checked out the Navigon site and I saw the 5 to 5.1 update. I downloaded it, but did not install it, as I thought I'd contact Navigon to find out if the update is suitable with Medion Navigator.
I must say that Navigons response time was VERY quick, and I applaude them for that. What they told me was, that the update would not be of any use to me, as the Navigon Navigator program is not the same as Medion Navigator, and if I had gone through with the installation it would have "Wreaked havoc" there quote, with my system.
In summary they said, that although Medion use the same kernal in the software, they do change or modify certain aspects.0 -
Somehow I stumbled across this great forum whilst searching for speed camera notification software. I have read quite a few posts on this subject and would hope that someone will advice me on a summary of what has already been discussed here, on what is the best way of getting this on my Micromaxx 150 with Medion Nav 5.
What I am looking for (wish list) is something that will notify/remind me when approaching cameras durin everyday normal driving (Not having set the unit to a destination) and also when the sat nav is in use.
Thanks in advance for being patient with me, as I am new to this sat nav thing (and being an old bloke messing with techie stuff doesn't help)
Cheers Dave0 -
Yes you are correct with that Dave_T, Medion Nav5 is not the same as Navigon Nav 5.
The quote I got when I was in touch with the Navigon Helpdesk via eMail regarding my software response time was:Medion_Support wrote:You are correct they are leading a lot of their mails to us becaue we designed the interface of the software.
But we dont know anything about their devices or the map material that is included.-=Mr-J=-0 -

My Micromaxx MDPPC150, has had no other software of any kind added to it, so am I missing something?
ok. so i managed to download the zip file. I have tried to follow the instructions, but hit a few snags
When it says to copy the VirtCom.dll mine shows up as being VirtComNG.dll. I went to the windows folder on the PPC, but it will not allow me to paste it in there.
The next thing I noticed, In the next paragraph it says "Locate VirtComAVMgr" in the observer folder, mine shows as VirtComMgr.exe
Please will some VERY patient person try to help me out here, my 2 old brians cells are struggling here. LOL :mad:0
